Coach Conard was at Harrison this morning recruiting a couple of the guys we have on the roster.
I asked him a few questions but did not probe too much as he was trying to get to the next school to recruit. He said the day he was hired, he and Coach Walters were at Ben Davis recruiting a couple of their 2024 and 2025 athletes.
They went out for lunch together that day, talked philosophies, etc. Coach Walters hired him on the spot at the end of lunch and sent him on the recruiting trail the next day. Conard told me that Coach Walters said he checked all the boxes, Former Boilermaker, experienced and recruits Indiana.
He said he has yet to meet anyone else on staff and that he will this weekend when they host some guys on campus. He also said he and the other coaches are stationed at the Union while they figure out their living situations for houses, apartments, etc.
In our short chat, he seemed like a great guy. Said he loved playing for Coach Tiller, loved working for Brock Spack at ILL St and is so happy to be back home in Indiana and in particular at Purdue.
