I would have just liked the team to get extra practice time, not necessarily play in a bowl.

Agreed… the non- playoff bowl games are now meaningless exhibitions, with so many kids opting out for NFL draft prep— the extra practice time would be huge for the amount of improvement that Purdue needs.

I was pissed years ago when Joe Tiller said Purdue would treat these kinds of games as nothing more than a relaxing reward after a long season of work.

Tiller has proven to be exactly right.
