Curious....I wonder what AJ would say if asked the "hometown" question now. I still say Indy is my hometown, even though I haven't lived there in decades.
Actually I can't recall him EVER being referred to from anything other than Gary...even though he played for Carmel earlier...
As I understand it, he grew up in Gary.
Mother moved to work in Carmel, he followed.
Played on BBall team amid some weirdos commiting some sexual assaults. AJ then left the program and headed to play at Oak Hill.
yes he did but was a freshman and maybe a sophomore at Carmel. Point is he has always been referred to as being from Gary and he was at Carmel for some duration.
I didn't realize he was at Carmel during that time. Someone recently told me an entire season of some TV show just started, that is roughly based on that incident.

They even use the Carmel colors. In that video they show the Carmel team photo, and sure enough you can see Hammons. It's too bad he had to have those guys as teammates.
