against Virginia Tech. They are a different team without Brewer. I saw Motley a lot in high school and he is a great athlete but doesn't have a college arm at this point. They killed Furman today, but there were a lot of missed plays. You match up decent with them…this is not the VT team of a few years ago. They do have a lot of defensive playmakers and you'll have to be smart on offense.

Smart on offense is not exactly our hallmark. We did make some progress this week. Hope it continues.

Anytime you face a team that has most of its strength on one side of the ball, you have an opening. With VA Tech, as you mentioned, you can't kill yourself. This VA Tech team, particularly without their starting QB, is not going to be an offensive juggernaut. So you can't give them easy opportunities - turning the ball over and letting the defense score or putting them in a good spot offensively. On the other side of the ball, you have an inexperienced QB - take advantage of that.

If Purdue can win the turnover battle (and not just by stats, but impact - if VA Tech has 1 INT returned for a TD, that is more impactful than us getting 2 turnovers that we do nothing with), they'll have a good shot. VA Tech has been very up and down over the past couple of years. Hopefully we don't get one of their "up" games - although they certainly have more pressure on their shoulders than we do.
