Appleby has clearly improved a great deal and is poised to do big things:

Appleby was especially sharp.

To the tune of 13-for-15 with two drops as those incomplete passes. (Unofficially, of course.) It was all perimeter work, but still, it's the best Appleby has looked all camp.

Running with the 1s, he was 12-of-13 with the only incomplete pass a drop by DeAngelo Yancey on what would have been a first down over the middle in the third-and-13 period.

Maybe more important to note, especially considering Appleby's miss down the left sideline to a wide-open Yancey on Wednesday, was his long TD pass to Yancey on Thursday when the receiver beat Da'Wan Hunte off the line and Appleby delivered a perfect ball, in stride. Safety Robert Gregory, apparently, didn't do his job on the play -Taver Johnson flipped out, slinging his hat into the ground and yelling, "Where is my half player?!" as well as other colorful things - but, still, it was a throw Appleby has to make. And Thursday, at least, he did.

But it wasn't best throw the QB had in the morning.

Working with the 1s, Appleby had a perfectly placed ball over the top of a defender and inside a cornerback to connect with Gregory Phillips on a deep sideline.

And yes, that is overreaction too.
