WVB vs #9 Creigton

Purdue's D greatly improved with 5 blocks and held Creigton to a negative hitting % (-0.105) as they won 25-17. They finished the match on a tremendous run of 7 straight and 9 of the last 11 points. Match tied 1-1.

Purdue now behind 1-2 sets as they looked very bad in this 3rd set, losing 16-25. Even thought Hudson has 12 kills she is only hitting 0.179% with 5 errors. The team as a whole hit 0.083% vs 0.538% for Creighton. Hard to explain the difference between how they played in set 2 and set 3.

Purdue fought back from being as much as 6 pts behind and had two set points which they failed to convert. The Boilers then lost in extra points 25-27 and lost the match 1-3. I thought defensively we just could not match Creighton's offensive prowess.

A very disappointing weekend so far. Shondell did not come to the mic after the game but assistant coach John Klanac said they played better in many respects than the Kansas game but other than that could not add much insight into Purdue's woes.

Posted this on the other site. It appears we have 4 super players and another 2 very good players. The rest are just so so it appears and haven't gotten significantly better over the last few years and the new class didn't have really great players except for maybe the libero.
The other really good teams have great players up and down the lineup

This was Purdue’s second game against a top 10 team in 2 days, while Creighton did not play on Friday. That was definitely a factor.

I am optimistic the Kansas trip will greatly benefit Purdue in the long run, despite the losses. Both Kansas and Creighton are senior laden teams, and we are comparatively much younger, with a ton of upside growth potential as the season progresses. And as mentioned by Boilermb, short turn-around between games vs a rested Creighton squad. Boiler Up!!!

Yea, Dave is old school in regards to the portal, this season was a year he probably should have brought in a skilled back row player. He’s a good Coach but he hasn’t been to a Final 4, this is a team with some elite talent, just not sure there’s enough depth and top level players after the 3-4 that you mentioned.
