Wow, Purdue got a really bad draw

It's doubtful Purdue gets past a red hot Iowa State team. They've won 8 out of their last 9 games. Tough break imo.
Zero "likes" out of 5000 posts? Wow! You must be some kind of loser on these boards.

You might find that Purdue has been pretty hot lately too. I think the Purdue - ISU game might be a real fun game to watch, especially if you are a Boilermaker.

TD75 can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that was his number on the IU football team years ago. I also think Iowa State could be a tough one and would much rather play Nevada.

I think Purdue got a GREAT draw. Only thing better would be to have Gonzaga instead of KU, but can't complain about a 4 in the Midwest. Milwaukee is not a bad opening location at all.
Location okay, first opponent okay and will see after that. I know you know this...but for clarification is wasn't a draw...that implies random chance as opposed to a pairing that has human bias..none to imply a deliberate attempt to screw Purdue or anything. A lot of high school invitational tournaments are paired rather than drawn as well... :)

Completely DISagree - really like this draw - 4 seed seems fair because felt Boilers were under appreciated in prior seedings

Seriously, what do some of you expect? A simple and easy paved road to Sweet 16 or further?!

Every game for every team outside of the 1/16 match up has been, is and will continue to be a challenge. No team is immune to this.

And why is anyone focused on anything other than Vermont? Win that then make your next move. Not a game of chess; don't plan 3 steps ahead in single elimination.

Hell, I'm not even thinking about the 2nd game yet. Purdue + tournament = stress for me. I do feel a little more confident this year vs the past couple years. A little anyway, a bit , a tad, a pinch, an angstrom. Life of a Purdue Grad.

Short of being in Indy (very small chance of that) this is a great bracket. Got the #4 seed instead of #5 and playing within a reasonable driving distance of many alums. Of course ISU poses some problems if we get by Vermont, but it wouldn't matter any #5 is going to be tough.

Very pleased with this bracket, no complaints for me.

if butler wins they play minnesota? if we win we play iowa state? that doesnt seem right to me

Overall I am pretty pleased with the pairings. Very happy we got a #4 seed, we definitely deserved it. Iowa State is playing pretty good lately, but except for a poor shooting night from the free throw line, so are we. The path to the Sweet 16 is not going to be easy. Hopefully Iowa State reverts back to their earlier self and we take them out. Better yet, maybe Nevada beats them.

Kansas is likely the weakest 1 seed while Louisville is likely the best 2 seed. If Purdue can get by a likely matchup with Iowa State (can't believe the committee put ISU there for a potential Big 12 matchup in the Sweet 16), I like their chances against Kansas (I'd put it at 55/45).

we got the seed as expected, and even a better draw than I figured

we were about 12th rank in polls, kenpom, vegas futures, etc.
and now the committee and seeding reflects a similar expectation of a sweet 16

if both teams get there, would love a rematch with Kansas in the tourney.
(and could heat things up for the future home and home mentioned recently)

I saw some highlights of Iowa State and I don't like that potential matchup at all. They look to be the kind of team that gives us fits. Athletic. I'm surprise the tourney has a potential all Big 12 matchup in sweet 16 round. If we win that, we get Kansas in Kansas City! Geesh.

I hate to say it, but I think if Painter makes it to Sweet 16, that would be successful for this team in this draw.

4 seed. Short drive. No way this is a bad draw. This is the NCAA, no more Rutgers and Nebraska. Every team is good here. You don't get red carpet treatment. We need to just win!

Interesting. You would put money on Purdue over Kansas straight up?

How so? Minny and ISU were both 7-7 vs. RPI top 50, both teams SOS virtually the same (20 and 22). Butler was much better than Purdue at 9-4 vs top 50 vs. our 5-5, while Butler had the 10th hardest schedule vs. our 52nd.

I'm not sure if you think Butler should have been a 3 and had an easier 1st round opponent or what but I think it's a pretty even draw for the four seeds from Indiana.

saw this morning that one of Minny's starters is out for the game.

I hadn't seen that. The committee didn't seem to "punish" Minny for that, leaving them on the 5 line. I'm not very familiar with the young man, but I just read he averaged about 10 ppg and hit the most 3's on the team so it sure sounds like a big loss. Sorry to hear that for any player.

Based on the committee rankings, Purdue was the lowest 4 seed while Butler was the highest. But the draw for each team looks similar to me.

I have no comment about our draw but I do like our bracket. Kansas lost to TCU last week. ISU, eh. We could have gotten into a bracket with a stronger 3 seed.

If we can't beat Vermont, God help us. This is probably our best chance to the Sweet 16 in the past five years.

The Ringer's official bracket has us in the E8, beating Kansas.

As I posted in another thread Iowa State thinks you are nothing and are already thinking they are going to the elite 8. They see the Big12 as a far superior basketball league than the B1G on par with the ACC.

They expect to spread the floor and pull your bigs out of the paint. Bomb 3's and then run you out of the gym. They will bring 10k in fans to make it a road game for you. Your program needs to take them seriously. And yes do not get upset again in round 1. Boiler up!

That is not bad logic for other teams against us. That said...Go Boilers! Kick their cyclonic asses. I'm feeling it this year.

I meant that I would put Kansas at 55 and Purdue at 45. I just think Purdue matches up well with Kansas when looking at other teams they have struggled with. Purdue can put shooters on the floor and Kansas doesn't have the big men to play with Biggie, Haas, and Vince inside....but that's just my opinion.

I would love to grab a KenPom subscription but won't pay for it now and let it sit for nearly 8 months. I'll probably get it next season though as it's only $20.00 and it has some amazing stuff on their.

Gotcha. Well, hopefully we are having Purdue vs. KU discussion next week!
