Longtime Purdue fan but I’ve never been to Mackey or to West Lafayette even. I’m considering grabbing some tickets off SeatGeek and taking my nephews (13/16) to the game against Toledo. Anything I should know before coming to town? Any parking or food recommendations? Thanks in advance and BTFU.

East End Grill is my favorite place to eat.

You can park up in the neighborhood near West Lafayette High School for free if you don’t mind a 10-12 minute walk. Or across the street from Mackey at one of the houses that charge $40-50 to park in their lot.

Maru Sushi is shockingly good for the Midwest

Usually hit DT Kirby’s downtown prior to game where there’s free parking for a few hours. Uber up the hill for $5-$7.

Yeah get there early and park in the driveway or even yards of one of houses in the neighborhood right across from Mackey. I park at the house kinda in between Mackey and the football practice facility across the street.

I haven't been back to a game in Mackey in a couple of years, but we have always parked off of University Street south of Mackey. Either University Street Garage (10 min walk) or, since the students aren't in school, one of the couple of surface lots between there and Mackey.

With students gone for the holidays, check restaurant schedules before heading to WL. Some places may be closed or shorter hours. I’d recommend bringing them to a game when the students (Paint Crew) are there, if your schedule allows.
Took my daughter and 9 year old Grandson to the Maryland Sunday noon game a couple weeks back. Got there early, parked at the State St garage, walked around campus, shopped a bit and had a bagel and coffee at Einstein’s. Great game and day.

Try the new Bruno’s. The old Bruno’s had a lot of memorabilia and good food. I’m unsure what the new Bruno’s has.

Thank you all for the replies, y’all rock! Looks like a bunch of great food options that I’ll look into and some solid parking advice. 👍

I hear ya on trying to catch a game when the students (paint crew) are there but unfortunately I live out of state and don’t make it back to Indiana very often. I’m sure we’ll have a great time regardless and I’ll try to post back here re. the experience.

Okay, following up here. I ended up going to DT Kirby’s by myself (didn’t drag along the nephews, promised to give them the paint crew experience later). Ubered to Mackey and back to DTs. The uber/lyft back was a little delayed since kids were outta town (less drivers) but it wasn’t terrible (small wait). All in all, it was a great experience otherwise…they had 312 on tap (miss that, being out of town). The game was great, too, sat center court and it was family night so the crowd was engaged but not too wild. Glad to finally have made it down that way. Thank you all for the recommendations.
