watched that game last night (had WKU +1.5 in my pool). WKU returned most of their starters on offense, but were obviously over amped for the game suffering like six drops in the first half alone. Vandy moved the ball OK in the first half, but missed a chippy FG on a bad snap, and turned the ball over two more times in the red zone in the first half.
I didn't see the second half, but WKU won 14-12. Had me thinking that that same offense put up 67 pts on Marshall last year, and gave up 66. Vandy didn't look terrific in either side of the ball, and woulda/coulda/shoulda won the game and been up 17 at half had they not shot themselves in the foot.
I think some of the same physical advantages Vandy had last night will translate for Purdue on Sunday. Vandy dominated the game statistically, but really lost more than they got beaten. If Purdue can avoid the key mistakes that Vandy didn't, they'll be in good shape, particularly against a new QB for Marshall, who I think is likely to make some mistakes himself.
