With Eastern committing, I have a few optimistic thoughts...

Will this commit impact Epperson in any way? Knowing that we already are going to be in need of a starting center by no later than 2018, and he will definitely be getting big time minutes as a freshmen with a talented back court of CE and NE, does Purdue rise to the top of his list?

And does this impact Swanigan primarily, but also VE and Haas into staying all 4 years? I personally think VE and Haas will stay all 4 years anyway, but Swanigan is looking really good this year, possibly in that first round guaranteed money range? Does he stay AT LEAST for his junior year and play with the most talented team we've had in a long time? Albeit Eastern will be a freshmen and CE will only be a sophomore, but the future is looking very bright.

This won't impact Swanigan at all. He is at Purdue to build his NBA resume. He said last year that if he was guaranteed to be drafted (even in the 2nd round) he would go. I assume the same for this year.

I don't see Haas or VE leaving early. Haas needs to show some range beyond 3' & VE is a great college player, but not sure how his game translates, certainly not right now. If he becomes a great defender with his offense, then maybe, but I think he's going to be here next year. Swannigan is an interesting case. He looks like he's really improved, but I think the kids coming out after this year could really push him down. There is alot of young talent in the college game, & depending who comes out will determine his stock.

Haas is not a better pro prospect than AJH. He will be here 4 years. VE would really have to step up to be a projected draft pick. I would be very surprised if he left early.

Barring an injury, I think Swanigan is gone no matter what.

Biggie is gonzo after this year, I believe he has a dream/goal of making an NBA Team next year, even as the last man on the bench, I will thank him for his 2 years and wish him well.
VE and IH, love their collegiate game, but I think at the next level, you better have one aspect of your game that is lights out......
I believe they will stay their 4 years in a PU uniform.
The FUTURE is lookin' bright, I gotta put on shades!!
Boiler Up!!

I agree that Swanigan is most likely gone after this season

The biggest weakness we have then is depth at 5. Who will back up Haas?

Taylor (injury plagued big question mark)

Haarms - Inexperienced freshman. Only 225 at 7'2.....he needs to put on 15 pounds pronto over the next 12 months

Ewing - Inexperienced JUCO and undersized at 6'8.5 / 210

Vince - yuck at the 5

Epperson (if he signs) - 6-11 and only 210. Needs another 20 pounds

grad transfer?

A one-and-done? Very unlikely but if I were an unsigned 5 star big, and I see a stacked team like Purdue with a starting role vacated by Swanigan....crazier things have happened

Assuming Taylor gets healthy he's your guy backing up issac -seems he can't catch a break (no pun intended..)
Wouldn't be surprised to see haarms redshirt as he is a project, and allow him a year to add muscle.
I imagine there be a hard press now for Epperson at this point. Get him and this could be a really nice class.

If biggie goes pro, which we all believe he will, and we don't get Epperson or another big, how can painter RS Haarms with the only other big on our roster being JT, with him being so injury prone, which is especially alarming being it's a foot issue? Those seem to never actually heal with bigs.

I think you keep Haarms available at all times for depth at the 5, especially considering Haas gets in foul trouble easily.
