Wisconsin is good

Oops my bad. Still won with best player off.
More impressive given that they failed to live up to expectations a year ago with a very experienced and veteran team, and, are doing it with a virtual entire cast of new characters this year.

They have 7 Quad 1 wins already...nobody else in the country has more than 4...they won in Mackey (for only the 5th time ever)...and their only conference loss thus far was in Columbus.

Winning when Davis is as good as he was against Purdue is not surprising...winning fairly comfortably when he is a virtual non-factor, against what seems to be a quality OSU team...pretty impressive as well.

Good team for sure but nothing more. We can be great when we are locked in and ready to play a full game. If, we choose to play that way. We can win anywhere.

If we're talking about the type of success that Purdue was projected to have at the beginning of the year, Wisconsin should be just a speed bump. Wisconsin is pretty good but we lost to them at home. Teams are going to have a few bad losses throughout the year but Wisconsin isn't good enough to say it wasn't a bad loss (for this team) at home.

Purdue has had a couple of teams in the Painter era go an entire year without a loss at home. For example in the four years spanning 2015-2016 through 2018-2019 Purdue lost a total of 4 games in Mackey Arena. In 2010-2011 and 2018-2019 we were undefeated at home. This team has been hyped as Purdue's best team ever. If we have a second loss at home it would be pretty disappointing and would most likely cost us the B10 Championship.

High floor low ceiling. No top end nba talent on that team.
Davis was the guy with the most top=end NBA talent on the floor and in Mackey when they matched up, and, it was more than evident in his dominance of the game in just about every way, or, at least the impact that he had in every way.

And, they have maybe the most clutch guy in the league in Davison as well.

The fact that they arguably lack collective top-end talent was why it was all the more impressive that they beat Purdue...in Mackey.

You can have Davis, I'll take Ivey all day.

I would still take Ivey because I think he is more athletic. I see Davis as more of a true 2 and I dont think he's quick enough to make up for his lack of size at the 2. He's listed at 6'5" but he looks closer to 6'2"/6'3" to me which is kind of small for the 2 guard in the NBA. NBA is about potential and I think Davis is way closer to his ceiling than Ivey.

I would take Davis now. He plays hard and dominates for whole games. Granted he has less talent around him and usually has to do so. He has all the shots, great midrange. He rebounds much more and does not make many "oh crap what is as that?" plays. Ivey is more fun to watch, spectacular. Long term Ivey has more upside potential. But he will be gone from Purdue.

I find it bizarre that the debate is about NBA potential. How the fking hell does that apply to a Purdue basketball thread. We are playing right now ... and there was no debate during our game with Wisconsin.

The only reason UW won is that we didn't play well and a 2nd person for UW (Davison) stepped it up. We'll win by at least 10 at the Kohl Center

Debating NBA potential of a current Purdue player is more applicable than what most of the threads turn into these days.
Well, that is true! I'm just in a pissy mood and ready to discuss this team this month ... and not an endless and unwinnable debate about three years from now.

I think that the Wisconsin game served as a bit of a wake up call for Ivey. He was better against Penn State and I really thought he played well tonight. He didn’t waste possessions on offense and I liked what I saw on the defensive end. I assume that Painter really used that game to get his attention. When he’s playing like he did tonight, Purdue is tough to beat.
