It's been a tough week for college basketball. Different universities are in trouble with different sanctions. This made me think. Are there college football teams and coaches guilty of sanctions similar to those of the basketball programs? Surely some stuff is going on with them too?

There are things going on, but it appears that boosters play a bigger role in college football than basketball.

Probably harder to track as they use runners to deliver the money so recruits know what school the money is from but not who.

it's tough to trace the money trail. What you are seeing now is that the coaches and schools are not providing the money. But people and companies outside of the schools are providing the money, and the coaches are aware of it, but do nothing to stop it. I don't believe Coaches are guilty of providing money. But I also don't believe they don't know who is.

My son is a college athlete. Many Div 2 coaches informed him that they could get him the financial aid he needed to attend their college rather than a sports scholarship. I personally informed those coaches, no thank you, because we do not qualify for financial aid. We accepted an academic scholarship instead where he had to maintain a certain GPA to keep it. And his current coaches and academic advisors have kept him "on track" .
