Will 6.6 million be too much?

Two weeks ago I assumed DH was going to back had odds around 90%. I am now thinking 40-50%. I agree this announcement bodes badly for him. The one callout worth noting is this $60M is from the university facility upgrade budget (hence the BOT involvement). At least that's how I understand it; I very well may be wrong. A buyout for DH would come from the AD/ JPC budget. That's totally different. To assume because we are paying $60M for a facility means we automatically will pay $6M is not completely accurate.

I am wondering if we made the facilities announcement now rather than in the offseason so we can use it to attract a new coach even though it was announced under the guise of helping Hazell.

This is NOT a new plan. Back in the spring, they knew it was going to the BOT at the end of the year and there are news articles about it.

While it certainly would help in recruiting a new coach, this timing has nothing to do with that. It's long been known to be happening now.

I guess 6.6 million is too much for Burke to put out? What a joke.

I wouldn't put too much weight on that Yahoo article. I still think if we lose out, he's gone. The cost of not making a change will be too great.

It has nothing to do with money or losing football games. It is all about Mitch's national image as the education affordability czar. Nothing will be done that could hurt his image, which firing Hazell could do.

I guess another 2 win season next year will help his image huh?

He doesn't care about his image with the small base of athletic fans. If he wants to be secretary of education firing Hazell isn't going to help that, but could hurt.

So you' re saying hanging you hat on affordability while having one of the worst football programs in Div1 and academic credentials where your school isn't even listed on Forbes top 20 public universities isn't going to matter? Think again.
