Why is everybody freaking out?

Sure, it would be nice to have our guy wrapped up....but at this point it's not like everybody else has snatched up their coach and we are out waiting in the dark.

Just because there's nothing publicly, doesn't mean we aren't talking to the right guys. We could already have our guy wrapped up but haven't put it out there yet.

Yes, we fired our coach a long time ago but what people didn't realize was that coaches, good coaches were still in the middle of their seasons and weren't going to be taking calls. You know, out of respect for their fans, teams and schools. Loyalty we would want our next hire to have. For all intents and purposes, the process really only could have started on Friday with Fleck and Saturday with Brohm.

Not to mention there are another 5+ good candidates out there.

This is pretty close to my feelings. But I can't fault people for getting antsy. Some legit concerns - Fleck and Miles with zero interest, Brohm interviewing with competition - are getting some people worked up. There are few people who I am convinced are off their meds and others who are simply anxious. DEFCON 5 to DEFCON 1. There is no in between on these boards!!!

I confess my National Lampoon's MB rant felt pretty good, but I'm still only at DEFCON 4 with so many good candidates out there. The timing is the least of my concerns. My main concern is if one or two of the agents are telling these coaches they are better off staying put for another year, then maybe all of them are hearing that advice. But I still believe even a challenging P5 opportunity is too much to turn down, and whoever our guy is needing some time to mull it over just means it is not a clear cut decision.

FIU hired Butch Davis right away. They did not wait until the season was over. Now he is already in the process of hiring top notch assistant coaches from P5 programs.

Like who? I'm clearly not following that situation but it's hard to imagine a P5 assistant (at least one that the P5 wants to keep) leaving for the same position at FIU.

Butch has been out of a HC job for awhile. That's why they could have hired him awhile ago.

Highly doubtful they are acquiring good assistants.

MBob talked to 12-15 candidates before the end of the season. That in and of itself was reason enough to fire The haze midseason, IMO

People are freaking out because they think that things are supposed to happen on their timetable... and when it doesn't happen, they turn in to crybabies.

I don't think so either, but he did interview others after The Haze was booted.
