With all the hype this years iu team is getting (I've seen them preseason as high at #12), who would you trade for in the starting lineups? Obviously tough to do based on it being iu, but put emotions aside and try to be objective.

For my starting 5, I'd trade for :
1. Hill for Yogi: yes
2. Ray Davis for Blackmon: Yes (although you're basically trading offense for defense. Tough call)
3. Vince for Williams: no (Williams is the better athlete, but I like Vince's all around game and ability to stretch the D with the 3 and handle the ball)
4. Biggie for ? : no (not sure who iu will have at the 4, but I ain't tradin Biggie)
5. AJ for Bryant: no way jose.

OK iu lurkers, I know you're reading this. Feel free to add your assessment but just remember.... POTFH

Davis outperformed JBJ head to head last year in EVERY category. I'm keeping Davis!

No way would I have Yogi on my team...he and his mama are too much of a disruption. I wouldn't want Blackmon either, because Painter preaches defense and the next time JB Jr. plays any will be the first time he's ever played any. That said, I'd let Dakota go for Williams....maybe.

No way would I give up Davis for James. Davis is the leader that this team needed... and like was mentioned already, he outperformed James head to head last year anyway.

I think just about any of the IU players, with how they have been disciplined, would be a distraction similar or worse than we have seen at Purdue in recent years.

Come on man....that's not being objective. Yogi is one of the best PGs in the B10 and a better shooter than anyone we've got. If he played for anyone other than iu, I bet you'd take him.
Yeh, his mom is incredibly annoying and doesn't know when to shut up, but he's a good ball player and would make PU a FF favorite.

Seems to me that for all his talent Yogi has too much of that Ronnie Johnson "getting mine first" attitude to fit in on a Painter team.

I totally agree with the sentiment that Yogi has had the "getting mine first" attitude. I've always thought he had that attitude. He is a much better point than anyone we have and I think his talent would vault us into a FF 4 slot. I'll be glad to see him go.

I kind of struggle with the whole Yogi thing. All that dribbling and looking for his shot first does make me not want him. OTOH he's got game. I'd have to say I would like to see Hill and PJ play this year but having not seen them yet, I'd have to err on the side of taking Yogi even though I totally hate his weak impression of Curly Neal. I will say I'll be sad to see him go because I think he makes IU dysfunctional.

You are forgetting that whoever came over from IU would have to be coached by Painter and perform to his expectations.

With that said...I'd take the New Yogi in a NY Minute! Assists up and points down, this guy would be good for us.

Bone....it's too much about Yogi and not enough about team. The other players really don't like to play with the guy. And I wouldn't like him if he played on a team beating IU.

It's about talent and the Yogger is a more talented ball handler and shooter than anyone on the Purdue roster. If he had more inside help, he'd probably not feel like he always has to carry the team and especially be the one taking the big shots at the end. He was a missed 3 from beating both Maryland and Purdue last year on the last possession.

Look, I hate iu more than most people and I especially don't like Mrs. Yogger, but if he were on the Purdue roster, this team would be talked about as a NC contender. He'd be the missing piece.
Painter would find a way to make use of his skills.

If I could pick a current B1G point guard, I would personally take Bronson Koenig. I think he would fit our current team very well. My second choice would probably be Bryant McIntosh.

He had lottery picks he never threw the ball to.

OK, it hurts to defend an IU player but people are clouded by their black and gold glasses. In the one year that Ferrell played with a pretty damn good team, he averaged only 6.3 FGA's per game and had 147 assists. Purdue's only had one guy with that many assists in the last 18 years (LewJack in 2012 had 148).

I was referencing the Vonleah year. But if your point was young Yogi played more team ball I'll buy into that. But last year to me is more predictable than 3 years ago.

But the thing you need to understand is he's been coached by Crean each of his three years. You had to expect some regression.

That said, he's demonstrated he can play a team game. I have no doubt Painter would have been able to draw that back out of him.

Painter couldn't make Ronnie or Bryson, etc. fit the mold so why would he have success with BooBoo?? I'm not buying in.

Not one IU player in their current state. Not one.

Now, if we could put a freshman Yogi on the team 3 years ago, and let him develop in Painter's program for 3 years, then maybe. On the other hand, I can identify a good dozen kids playing for other schools in the BIG I would value ahead of Yogi, even under the preconditions I stated in this paragraph.

C'mon MathBoy. It was about this time last year when Octeus joined the team. Yogi is one the the top 2-4 players in the Big Ten and an intelligent player at that. He could play off the ball just fine if asked to. It would be crazy to pass on him.

None. Chemistry is underrated. All of the Boilers are true Boilers by choice. Why would I even consider trading one for a hoosier?

OK, I gave it a second thought. today I will trade Ronnie Johnson for Yogi.

Would never trade Vince but, Troy Williams would get some serious minutes on this team....off the bench...

Yogi. I wouldn't trade Basil for Williams. Similar athletes but Basil is a better defender, shooter and energy guy. Williams is a better rebounder, stat wise. He would be fourth best rebounder on Purdue's team.

Oh Yogi will get his 25 points …but it'll take him more than 20 shots to do it. And in crunch time, the other 4 may as well form the swinging gate every play.

Kevin Ferrell is the only one I'd want, period. They have other really nice players but Purdue has no need anywhere else...2 deep with quality everywhere.

The parallel question is... Who would you trade to IU if you could get any IU player in return? Which of our players would you release into Tom Crean's clutches?

And as some others have said, the answer is none. I like Yogi's skillset, but I prefer our players that chose Purdue, and I wouldn't trade them away. Excited about our opportunity this year!
