There are some key games left to play but if the season ended now, who do you think would win coach of the year? After all is said and done, who do you predict to win it?

I thought Turgeon had a shot if he could pull off a solo championship. After today that seems unlikely so I think it's Collins if the rest of the season unfolds how I think it will.

I don't think Painter just because we were expected to be near the top of the standings and the award usually goes to a coach who was expected to finish in the lower level but instead finishes toward the top of the standings. Not saying you couldn't make a case if we were to win out and clinch the championship but I would expect the voters to go with Collins at this point.

I wouldn't be shocked if NU didn't win another game this season.

I think a case can be made for Whizzo. Had the best player in the country ripped from his sweaty hands by Painter, suffered through a broken dry erase board, and was threatened often with dehydration by tears. He also had a severely stressful exchange with Dakich. Biggest single accomplishment has to be having his players only appear on a basketball court and not in circuit court.

Gotta give credit where credit's due....well done.

I'd say Pitino Minny was so bad last year. If they finish 12-6 or 11-7 I don't see how he couldn't win it. Of course that would take at least one big road victory to get to either of those records. They got Mary and Wisky on the road left

I'll cheer for it anyway.

I think you just hit on something. Us Boilers should all be cheering hard for little Pitino to win COTY by beating both Wisconsin and Maryland. Go Gophers!

Ha! I wouldn't consider Pitino at this point, solely because of the lack of quality in the Big Ten. In a "normal" Big Ten quality year, there's no chance they'd be at or above .500 right now.

If PU wins the Big10 outright he has a great shot.

big game still for both teams, and maybe coach of year?

cmp vs Collins vs pitino

I didn't see anything about a bonus for receiving the award, but painter did get his 10% of bonus allotment for big ten first place (that's what is was pre-extension anyway) !

Painter should win because he is awesome. I thought that "C" stood for clappy for a second and I thought you got to be kidding me. Everybody could get that one lol.

That's funny stuff! :D

I'm just not sure the national experts are right about the big being awful. I agree it has had stronger years but I will wait a few weeks before I buy that. We've seen a poorly rated BIG win big in the tourney before.

I think there's a lot of decent middle of the pack type of teams - which is the same with a lot of conferences.

But there's not really any elite teams (i.e. early in the season, there were 3 Big Ten teams in the top 15). I don't think Minnesota is good enough to beat legit Top 15 teams - whereas they can beat the top 3 in the Big Ten because it's not that great. Thus, they'd have a worse record if it was your typical year.

I think the Big Ten can do fine - I've said a million times - I don't think there's much difference between #5-25 this year. And there's not much difference between #15 and receiving votes. I think you'll either see a lot of craziness - or you could see four #1 seeds in the Final Four because there's not a lot of great, consistent teams in general.

I agree and Vanderbilt almost showed KY that theory last night.
