Agree. Hopefully CJ continues to develop his dribble drive game, getting into the lane and finishing. He’d have to beat CJ out, and he’s nowhere near the ball handler that he is.

I tend to agree with your perspectives in a lot of situations, but IMO you’re picking a needless fight here…I get it, for some folks, there is no criticism even of the tiniest variety of Painter that will be tolerated. He's figured everything out exactly and he did five years before everyone else.
Overall yeah he's generally very good at development. Smith and Edey have truly developed a ton as have TKR. Of course, Heide, Colvin, Berg, Waddell and arguably Loyer have less developed. Do those count too?
One could as easily argue he's elite at finding diamonds in the rough and talent evaluation v developing talent.
Again, my point isn't that Painter sucks, or that he doesn't do things well, my point is more around this silly moralizing folks do around him and this program where the portal is filled with bad eggs and a need for Painter and Purdue to somehow be about it all.
Something to a slight degree Painter encouraged. Yeah I think it's pretty clear now if it wasn't before to Painter that the days of counting on players being willing to sit and be role players and develop for 3 years or more are long gone. If you're Heide or Colvin, your end goal isn't bench sub on a championship team who might get to start their senior season.
Yeah this is the sanctimonious nonsense I was talking about.so it bothers you when individuals have morals? Or just organizations?
Even betterI think it included the top 8 rather than just starters
"IF" he and Matt got together and Matt laid down the expectations and consequences if not met and Kanon wanted to come to Purdue and Matt gave it an okay...I would love to have him under those expectations and consequences Matt would mandate. BYU performance is nowhere close to his ceiling...AND the other side is he may never reach his ceiling. He is gifted offensively and would fill the 3/4 spot offensively for Purdue. Now, I doubt all this happens, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if it did.I wouldn't be opposed to getting Catchings. Maybe he had a come to Jesus moment while at BYU and realized what could have been had he stuck with Purdue.
Maybe Painter sits down with him and his family, gives them an honest assessment on expectations, guarantees, etc. BUT...BUT.. if he comes in and earns a starting role, he could be a really important piece to a FF team.
We just had an entire season of him displaying what he's got. I saw a talented guy living on the 3 line with no interest in mixing up ANY kind of play in the paint or interest in physicality or defense. Pass.I wouldn't be opposed to getting Catchings. Maybe he had a come to Jesus moment while at BYU and realized what could have been had he stuck with Purdue.

LOL. indeed. I too used to resent it when people had morals that clashed with my goals. Then I got some.Yeah this is the sanctimonious nonsense I was talking about.
Lol Jesus you're a piece of workLOL. indeed. I too used to resent it when people had morals that clashed with my goals. Then I got some.
I think that's true, too. But, fans often "see the speck in their brother's eye, but not the beam in their own," to borrow a famous turn of phrase. It's human nature.I think we get a little full of ourselves sometimes
Maybe we already have them.Let’s try to keep this in one thread

looking like Flory could get IU interestWho do we get to replace Heide and Colvin?
My choices would be Flory Bidunga and Oscar Chuff. With TKR and a healthy 7'4" center, we'd have a solid rotation in the front. We're still in good shape with the guards.
Heard today that UK has offered him five million.Smith will be offered double what Purdue plans to pay him.

Purdue doesn't want Flory. His handlers are pushing for top tier money for him.Who do we get to replace Heide and Colvin?

Help me understand how he can be offered while not in the portal. Isn’t that tampering (not that I don’t think that doesn’t happen)?Heard today that UK has offered him five million.
And remember, he's not in the portal.
I heard those were from IU burner accounts.Heard today that UK has offered him five million.
