While we are waiting on Biggie's decision...

Two things here. 1) the people who always come out with that repetitive old stale comment about living in moms basement are the ones living in moms basement. 2) Yes sports teams practice. Yes they're supposed to get faster and more athletic. It's called a gym, training, a weight room. Ever hear of a gym?

I mean if Swan listened to that advice he'd still look like he did in those young pictures they show on tv barely able to run a lap around the track. Meanwhile now he's an all American. Put down the pizza and the chips and your Xbox and go try running around the track a few times. Generally people lose weight when they keep that up.

#1: If you are going to reference a post, make sure you reply to the right person. I'm fairly confident I didn't once say you lived in your mother's basement. I've fallen on my fair share of hard times as a single dad on a teacher's salary and currently live with my mom as I rebound from a horrible divorce (full custody of both of my son's in Indiana is no small feat considering both were under 3 when I filed)...I'm not one to poke fun at that without knowledge of an individual's personal story, of which I am only familiar with one poster here enough to comment and he usually sticks to the premium board.

#2 To expect a man who is above 7 foot tall and in the mid 250's to suddenly become more athletic and faster (in your terms) at this point in his college career is asinine. He is LIGHT YEARS ahead of where he was when he came in as a freshman and given the ability to do so full time at the next level, he may be able to improve more...but in one off-season while having a class load of summer courses and his other commitments is dumb.

I wouldn't say it's a flight. Not on vacation. There's some peeeerty long posts here besides mine.

Fair enough point 1. Point 2, he can get faster and any improvement helps their draft stats both Haas and Swan. They can only gain by staying and neither can lose short of injury. The same risk exists in NBA injury wise except likely without insurance.

Again, when they leave and focus on basketball full time....yes, I agree that they may see an improvement. However, that improvement likely won't happen in a single off season of work after 3 years (in Haas' case) in a program.

Look guys, I'm an MSU fan & alumni and I promise I try my hardest to come in peace. Even though I realize an MSU is not exactly a fan favorite here.

If you guys get Biggie back, I certainly think that Elite 8 and further should be an expectation. You should demand that as a fan base ... other teams/fanbases would expect that with the given roster. Biggie is a hell of a player and I wish he had come to MSU. I'm very impressed with his improvement under Painter and he's become a dominant force, possibly NPOY.

MSU had no defense for Biggie and Haas this past season, which lead to major blowouts. I definitely think MSU is way more equipped to deal with that deficiency this season, for reasons already stated. You can call Izzo a crybaby, etc. But we had massive issues in the frontcourt this past season. Should be much improved this season, but time will tell and who knows if it will be enough to overcome Purdue in that area.

I think you guys will be surprised with the progression of Winston and Langford. I agree with all the criticism of TumTum, but he will be a role player this season, barring injuries.

I really look forward to our battles in the 17/18 season. I think with Bridges coming back and everyone improving, MSU should be the favorite. But I would be less than shocked if a Biggie lead Purdue team changed that.

Good luck!

You guys get back most of your injured players next year. It has been my observation that many returning players either need more time to recover, or never get back to old levels. Hence I am cautious about handing MSU the crown. I do think that MSU needed better guard play, did not get it through Harris, and did not add anyone significant this year. A second reason to be cautious about crowning MSU.

I do think MSU is one of the 3 best teams in the BIG. I just don't know if they are the best. By the way, JJJ said he decided MSU because Izzo cried. Cry-baby is a well deserved nickname for him given that recruiting strategy and his demeanor during games. That said, I do respect his accomplishments.

Guard play and lack of frontcourt depth were the big problems for MSU. The front court is now very saturated, but the backcourt didn't get any additions and lost Harris. They will likely run into the problem Purdue had two years ago. Guard play will be what holds them back. If the sophomore group improves drastically and if JJJ fits in with Bridges perfectly early, they could end up winning the Big Ten outright and deserve that top 3 preseason ranking. But they have some glaring weaknesses from last year that didn't get fixed to get all of the praise already. Especially when the only thing they added was front court and the only starter they added was JJJ. MSU was a very mediocre team last year that got into the tournament on name alone. JJJ is a top ten type player on paper, but is he enough all by himself? I have no idea how he fits the chemistry with Bridges that was asked to do everything last year. Does JJJ play the post or does he play out like a stretch 3/4? My guess is that he plays the stretch and takes minutes from Goins. MSU should definitely improve, but 7-10 more wins? Because that is what it would take to end up a top 5 team. They lost 7 more games than Purdue last year, who won the Big Ten by 2 games. If Biggie comes back, it would be far too soon to say that MSU is the favorite in the Big Ten. I could see more wins for MSU based on schedule alone, but I just don't know about 7-10 more. Not yet anyway.

Never say no one. You obviously have not read my Carterville posts on facebook. I have some time on my hands.
