and not come out looking like they read way too many press clippings? Later this year? Next year? After that? Because as much as Michigan State mugged us all day, this team looked like the warnings of Iowa and Syracuse went in one ear and right out the other.

By the way, today was the day when we needed not only moore, but players on the outside with the physical ability of Mershawn Rice and Milton Wright/David Bell, and not Zico and especially not Sparks. As much Zico has been much better against top press corners he was getting open far less; of course acknowledging that the game looked like it was played in Michigan city

This was a good reminder how much better MSU DBs were than our WRs not named Moore. We won’t win the game we aren’t supposed to unless we don’t make mistakes and today we made too many.

We've been predicted to be good preseason exactly 1 time in the last decade.

Still have a shot at having a good season.

Did we just lose by 3 TDs to Illinois or something?

This offseason we were predicted to be far better than 0-3 in the first three games, then the team looked like they read that a lot. Then we got humiliated and played like crazy dogs. Then we beat Ohio State and showed up today looking about as much like hungry dogs as we did the day we played EMU.

We needed outside receivers like mershawn rice and David Bell today. Then we could have really made them pay for tripling Moore and the defensive holding would be too obvious. I’m sorry, I don’t care how nice of a guy Jared Sparks is. The ability is not there. There are a lot of wonderful human beings who aren’t big ten caliber receivers

Not sure that was true except with Purdue fans.

Not sure besides the EMU game people expected Purdue to beat Northwestern or Missouri. To be truthful we’re right where I bet most expected us to be. 4-4

That’s right. I was expecting us to be 6-6, 4-4 at this point in the season and I believe Vegas had us only at 4-5 wins.

You’re oversimplifying .. you cant tell me that this team didn’t begin playing much better once they were treated like nobodies at 0-3

They play like a team loaded with 2 stars who have to be perfect. Last week they made zero mistakes. Today they made at least 5. The most egregious was downing the ball on the 1 after the block.

It never fails to amaze me how all the board-certified psychologists on this board all seem to have such accurate assessments of how "hungry" the team is or isn't.

Lol

They looked hungry to you today outside of Rondale Moore? It always amazes me that some jagoff has a snide comment but doesn’t make an argument

BS Nebraska has double digit four stars, Purdue wasn’t perfect and they walked in that game. You’re telling me that coach Brohm said we had a bad practice Tuesday, noted that he lectured our guys on past upset winners having let downs... but I’m just imagining things?

One f-ing loss and the garbage “this team can’t oh my god they’re all two stars” argument comes back after we haven’t heard a peep about that since Q1 Boston College

Well, I'm sorry you feel the need to call people names to justify your indefensible argument. But pardon me, exactly how do you know the team is "hungry" or not? By simply watching on TV???

Your missing the key part of what I said. Purdue has less margin for error. We made dumb errors. Fumbles, downing the ball on the 1. At least 2 passes that we’re just not good. When your talent level is low you cannot make those mistakes.

Yeah watching it. I can sit you down and show you a bunch of wild maniacs flying around the last four weeks and that wasn’t there today. Today they looked like a team that had “made it” which is exactly how they looked against EMU.

We also weren’t flying to the football or going nuts to get back to ge ball on throws ... go back and watch DJ Knox today. The last four games, we had a lot more players who looked more like Knox than a lot of guys did today

"Wild maniacs"???

Please tell me exactly which play(s) the team showed no "hunger" on?

We've given up big plays all season from time to time. And failed to get stops, as well. But no doubt, we were "wild maniacs flying around" even on those occasions, but not today???

How funny!

Yeah, I just don’t agree. I think it was costly mistakes and a poor defensive game plan against the rookie. In the second half we tightened it up, but like IU last night couldn’t recover.

I hate hate playing rookie QB’s. We expected him to make mistakes and it was our veteran who made them.

That can all be true, and we can come out and just not be as hungry as we were the last four weeks...

Did you see Blackmon selling out to break passes up at the last minute. Do yourself a favor genius. Go watch the breakups from last week and then watch his weak ass today

I'll disagree with that. Blough missed a lot of open passes. And their DBs were clearly getting away with a lot of holds, especially on Moore. But they were more physical than our DBs, who I think cost the game. No way Lombardi should have had 300+ yards passing.

Well, I personally watched Mr. Blackmon - after having broken up some nice pass plays in the end zone last week - give up two long passing touchdowns to OSU. But no doubt by your measure, he was a "wild maniac flying around" when he gave up those TDs, huh?

Perhaps you can elucidate me on the difference in giving up 2 4th quarter TDs to OSU showing "hunger," and being somewhat late today on a couple of receptions that apparently did not show "hunger."

Really? Your argument hinges on what happens when we are up multiple scores? Are you a Nebraska fan?

Goodness.

From a talent standpoint, this team is overmatched in most games they'll play this year. Yet, "press clippings"...???

They went into another team's hostile environment. Lost a close game, to a program who has been winning B1G championships, winning 10+ games/year. An established program.

Yes, they're really banged up. But, ....

....goodness.

This is ridiculous.

Maybe I shouldn’t go off the deep end

Just not a good game all around by Purdue. Really feel this game will either get team inspired for rest of season or they will pack it in . Iowa game gonna be big for rest of season.

I hear what you're saying. I would suggest that Brohm teams don't "pack it in," and I fully expect a positive response. If not this week, certainly to close out the season.

As an example, see games #4, 5, 6 and 7 after losing games 1-3.

I expect team to comeback, looking for team to play well against Iowa. Hopefully all the DB's play aggressively.
