Remember the Western Conference was the name of the Big Ten back then. We have been in the Big Ten since we helped found it.By my count would only be out 6th time since joining the big ten in 68 season, and 3 of the times were under Tiller.
Never had a 10 or more win season either. 9-4 would be a hell of an accomplishment for us

My only question: Why are we being stuck in NYC (pinstripe bowl)? For that matter, why are outdoor bowls allowed to North of Tennessee in December? Should be required to be indoors if in cold weather.By Purdue standards, this has been a good season

Hopefully Purdue will finish strong and be able to participate in a real bowlMy only question: Why are we being stuck in NYC (pinstripe bowl)? For that matter, why are outdoor bowls allowed to North of Tennessee in December? Should be required to be indoors if in cold weather.
We're still going to be several rungs down in the B1G ladder when it comes to bowls.Hopefully Purdue will finish strong and be able to participate in a real bowl
if psu loses to msu, that gives them 5 losesWe're still going to be several rungs down in the B1G ladder when it comes to bowls.
OSU
UM
MSU
PSU
Wisc
Iowa despite beating them
Minnesota maybe
But that's never all that matters.if psu loses to msu, that gives them 5 loses
Better yet how did the Big Ten get roped into the NYC bowl game? Another Commish Warren failure? My only question: Why are we being stuck in NYC (pinstripe bowl)? For that matter, why are outdoor bowls allowed to North of Tennessee in December? Should be required to be indoors if in cold weather.
I don't think so. I think we've been in this one for a few years, so probably a product of Jim Delany trying to get the east coast market along with Rutgers.Better yet how did the Big Ten get roped into the NYC bowl game? Another Commish Warren failure?
You’re right. Just looked it up.I don't think so. I think we've been in this one for a few years, so probably a product of Jim Delany trying to get the east coast market along with Rutgers.

Also, a fun bit of trivia.. Since the Big Ten started participating in 2014, it has gone 5-1 in the Pinstripe bowl against the ACC. Without looking, name the team responsible for the one loss.
BS. Purdue went 10-2 in 1979 under Jim Young including a bowl win over Tennessee.By my count would only be out 6th time since joining the big ten in 68 season, and 3 of the times were under Tiller.
Never had a 10 or more win season either. 9-4 would be a hell of an accomplishment for us
Flat out wrong. 1979 Purdue was 10-2 including a bowl win vs Tennessee. So 125 Season, never 10 wins, would be 9th time we won 9 games.
Heck we have only been ranked in the AP poll 16 times since it started in 1948 73 seasons ago. I think if we win against IU and our bowl, we should be ranked.
9 wins is a good season by anyone's standards.By Purdue standards, this has been a good season
Not for OSU, Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson. 9 wins for those programs starts cries for coaches to be fired……..9 wins is a good season by anyone's standards.
Fair point. Okay 9 wins is a good season for 99.9% of college football teams. Not for OSU, Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson. 9 wins for those programs starts cries for coaches to be fired……..

It’s just what the fanbases of these teams are accustomed to. I’d love for Purdue to annually be in that position. It would mean Purdue is much more than the “Spoilermakers” in the football. We’d be legit contenders.I can’t envision being a fan where a second loss means “the season is over”
We were not too long ago, but then Orton fumbled. We’d be legit contenders.
When we stop losing to Minnesota and Wisconsin, we will likely be legit contenders. We were not too long ago, but then Orton fumbled.
The ultimate Purdue Brohm team would be this year's team with a reasonable running game, maybe 8th or 9th in the B1G instead of DFL. That team is a contender. When we stop losing to Minnesota and Wisconsin, we will likely be legit contenders.
Honestly, I kind of doubt that the Orton fumble team would beat this Brohm team. Purdue started 5-0 that season and finished 7-5. Pretty much lost to every good team they played that season.

The Indiana Hoosiers. You’re right. Just looked it up.

Never heard of them, is that what Indinia used to be called? The Indiana Hoosiers.
don't forget Smith's dropped INTWe were not too long ago, but then Orton fumbled.
You made it too easy!
Edit: Is it a school that hasn't won a bowl game in the last 29 years!
The only reason that was mildly difficult was putting IU and bowl game in the same line of thought. The Indiana Hoosiers.
