Carol Corbin of the DoD contacted USCP Deputy Chief Sean Gallagher on January 2nd to see if the USCP was going to request the Guard (The National Guard only go when invited to go. The Legislative Branch controls Capitol Security). He responded back the next day that a request was not forthcoming after discussing it with COP Sund.

Because of the increased threat, Monday January 4 COP Sund requests the ability to have the National Guard from the House and Senate Sargant at Arms. The request was denied.

This is consistent with what Patel, Meadows, and the then-Sec of Defense have said.

Correct me if I am wrong, Bob, but the way it works is that POTUS cannot officially authorize National Guard troops unless asked to by the Capitol Police and the DC Mayor. Why did both decline to ask for National Guard support?

Do your people think Trump had Ray Epps as a cheerleader instead of him being there? I think your questions and thinking are way out in the deep end of the pool. I can’t think or believe any of that would happen. Most certainly don’t believe Pence would have caved into him. Many people wanted Trump out including many of his own people. Yes, there was a lot of controversy about Mail in Votes, because even Jimmy Carter admitted that they were the most likely source of voter fraud. I believe most people acknowledge there was a significant amount of voter fraud, but it doesn't matter what you think. It only matters what you can prove and that ship has sailed.

Trump didn't want to go quietly into the night, since he's a fighter and wanted to go down swinging. He pissed off the Dem and the Rep establishment and I suspect they probably worked in concert to get rid of the guy rocking their boat. I think the Reps made a token effort to get to the bottom of the corruption, but Trump had burned a lot of bridges in the Rep Party, so people were hesitant to stick their necks out too far for him. (That's my conspiracy theory, based on nothing provable.)

Trump hasn't been President for 1.5 years and although he may throw his hat in the ring again, I doubt the Nation wants to go through that drama again. I'd love to see Ron DeSantis and Tim Scott run in 2024. It's time to put some adults back into the WH.

That’s just you saying things. Your stance on these things — including the science behind homosexuality, for example, and your apparent position that homosexuals dont’t exist, thus any science that assumes they DO exist must be wrong — seems to be “if they don’t do the thing that supports the thing I already believe, then there’s no reason for me to consider their claims.” But, since you’re now resorting to insults about my reading comprehension and my ability to do simple arithmetic, I see no reason to continue. Watch the hearings, maybe, and if they don’t answer your question to your satisfaction, THEN, by all means, complain about it.

I've been around for over 7 decades and I've seen no shortage of Dem cheating in elections. Ask yourself a few simple questions:
-- Why are the Dems the only ones, who want to keep expanding the number of days on which you can vote?
-- Why are the Dems the only ones, who want to see more mail in voting and drop boxes?
-- Why are the Dems the only ones, who want to eliminate the requirement for voter ID?

The answer to all three questions is the same. It makes it easier to cheat. They can spin it however they want, but all three of their agendas give them greater opportunity for voter fraud.

I said that I liked Trump's policies, which were sound. I also like that he was an outsider, which helped shake things up a bit. Unfortunately, Trump's ego and lack of filters made him annoying and pissed off too many people, who could have made his job easier.

That's why I like DeSantis. He's done a great job as Governor of FL and will have policies similar to Trump's, but he can work well with all the people, who can help him push his agenda through. If I understand your garbled text, you sure don't have much faith in our democracy. It is in far greater danger now under Brandon's bumbling and ineptitude - but I am not worried in the least about the safety of our democracy because it looks pretty clear the voters can still remove hacks like him when the time comes.
