Nebraska fans are thinking “oh sure Purdue beat us, but we haven’t had our return to glory “full of warriors” that frost will go to battle with any time. They are ranked 21st in recruiting with 17 commits. But we are ranked 25th with 20 commits. I think most NU fans would assume the gap is much wider.

I don’t know where they think we aren’t improving. Look at this. Wide receiver/TE:

Rondale Moore and Brycen Hopkins are already established as dynamic players.

Outside receiver:
So. Jared Sparks **
Sr. Isaac Zico **
Sr. Terry Wright **

Competing for those reps next year when Zico and Wright will be gone:
Jr. Jared Sparks **
Fr. Mershawn Rice **** 5.8
RFr. Kory Taylor *** 5.7
RFr./So. Amad Anderson *** 5.7
RFr. Jordan Bonner *** 5.5

On defense, only Thienemann’s spot will be empty a four star is on the way and he may not win the job.

And Brohm can coach and develop

That might not even be the complete list on the outside. I’m not sure why they think we are Illinois but go over there, it’s pretty amusing.

They, and frost for that matter, seem to talk like they are going to be playing Rutgers next year

What if we get 4* David Bell and/or 4* Milton Wright? 4* JJ Weaver? 4* Cameron Williams? Wandale Robinson?

I like the enthusiasm but you are assuming that Nebraska doesn't also have a number of higher rated players coming in to replace the players they have now.

My guess is that Nebraska will get better but it'll likely be some what on par with what Purdue has shown this year and will continue to show if Brohm stays for an extended time/Bobinski makes another great hire in line with what Brohm has done at Purdue. Will Purdue ever be a PSU or OSU? Probably not, but being a sneaky good program like NU who can get to 8 wins consistently and sneak in a 10 or 11 win season isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

If Brohm did exactly that, he'd be hailed a saint in central Indiana and would be able to call his own salary for the rest of his career at Purdue. My guess is Bobinski would give him upwards of $6-$7 million per year easily. I'd point to Fitz at NU being a good comparison even though Fitz graduated from NU. If you don't think the NFL or other bigger college programs haven't sniffed around what Fitz has been able to do at NU, you'd be crazy.

No in my thinking I’m actually not assuming that. They do, and so do we. But they have recruited thirty four stars in four years. We have not. So when the classes are likely to be 10-15 spots apart, we are actually going to be improving more relative to our talent level than they are strictely in recruited talent.

I can see that but you also have a better staff under Frost than what Nebraska has had since Pelini was there, IMO.

They are too busy booing to think logically.

Did anyone notice their DT #91 had BOTH hands in the facemask of Kirk Barron just before #91 was "forced" to hit Blough in the head, resulting in the "controversial" roughing the passer penalty. Two penalties by one of their players on one play, and they boo the refs. Funny how Millen said nothing about that.

For sure .. last years staff may have lost worse to us with the same roster. All I’m saying is we should have a chance to win without them playing bad. I’m not saying we will roll them and smoke them.

There’s something else. GBI just wrote that it’s hard for a team to have two QBs who can play on one roster and keep them. Martinez is a freshman, everyone knows he’s Frost’s guy, and they have no QB committed at a time when the good ones are gone. They run an offense that relies on the QB to run and take hits ;).

The Nebraska game is over. There are high-quality Nebraska fans, and then there are the others.

I have no doubt, Nebraska will return to a highly competitive team. I have no idea if they'll compete for a NC again, but they have too much support to not get highly talented players.

Let's not get too wrapped up in what a vocal minority posts on an internet forum.

Well... except that in the most comparable game they didn't. Last year's Nebraska staff beat us in Ross-Ade with a lot of their same players against a better defense. I see your point about Nebby.

I don't doubt Frost COULD end up being a great coach at Nebraska. But this start would cause me to pump the brakes a bit. Everyone is so high on him, but there's just something I can't quite put my finger on. To me he has a bit of that deer in the headlights look. Maybe its just my post Hazell traumatic stress. Did Nebraska have all these discipline issues last year? Frost has been a HC for 2+ years, yet everyone is so sure it's just a matter of time until he gets NU on top in the West. What if UCF was just a perfect storm?
