At that time Morgan announced publically he was forming a committee . There were 5 people in that committee and they chose Hazell partly on a recommendation of a former OSU coach on the committee. With Walters, it was a very fast hire. But with the Louisville job becoming available, I have to believe BOBO was working the phones before just making a decision.
I also have to believe BOBO has been working the phones For the last 3-4 weeks based on the results of games. And also when the oc was fired, there was no real attempt to replace him. To me the total lack to find a new oc was the starting point for BoBO to start working the phones.
I have to believe BOBO already has a coach and is just waiting for that coach’s season to be over before announcing it. That 7-10 day window was made public to basically work out the contract details.
I’m unsure if the coach is anybody anyone on this board has speculated about. I also doubt he will be a fan favorite of the posters on this board. And many fans on this board will want BOBO fired.
Something I’m also not sure about but have a bad feeling is I don’t believe all those players who entered the portal are just sitting there and waiting and will return. I suspect many of them will be contacted by other schools and will accept a better deal and a better opportunity and a better coach.
If I was a player with NFL aspirations, I’m not sure I’d want to play for a former coach from Miami(Ohio) or WKU as our next coach. If I was their dad, neither of those two coaches would give me a warm fuzzy. If you look at our basketball team, Purdue has had a lot of legacy players that we thought were sure things play elsewhere .
