Hello folks. As you all know, Kyle is no longer with Boiler Upload, but I am still going to keep the Weekly Upload going for all of you!
Jacobsen set to announce decision:
2024 center Daniel Jacobsen is set to make an announcement later in the day today, deciding between Purdue and Wisconsin. The 7’2 big man picking the Badgers looked to be close to a lock earlier this week, but Purdue has picked up steam with Jacobsen late in the game. Matt Painter and the Boilermakers are trending in the right direction heading into the announcement, but we will find out for sure in a matter of hours.
Boiler Upload will have more when an announcement is made.
Men's and women's signing day approaching
Men's:
If and when Jacobsen commits to the Boilermakers, he would become the fifth member of a massive class for Matt Painter and company. For now, the class consists of Kanon Catchings, Raleigh Burgess, Jack Benter and CJ Cox. At the moment, Purdue has just one open scholarship available for 2024-2025, which will likely be taken by either Jacobsen or four-star guard Gicarri Harris. The latter has remained quiet since sharing his top six schools over the summer and taking visits throughout the fall. Purdue was assumed to be the leader in the clubhouse just a few months ago, but things look uncertain for right now.
Purdue does not appear to be in the running for four-star guard Travis Perry any longer, which is a result of CJ Cox's commitment earlier in the year.
Expect Purdue to sign Catchings, Burgess, Benter and Cox this week when National Signing Day begins on Wednesday, with the potential to add Jacobsen to that group.
Boiler Upload will have more on each prospect on Wednesday as things become official.
Women's
On the women's side, Katie Gearlds and the Boilermakers have their 2024 class locked in. Purdue is set to sign four-star guard Jordyn Poole, along with forwards Kendall Puryear and Lana McCarthy.
Poole is the crown jewel of the class, coming in at No. 38 by Prospects Nation and No. 54 by ESPN HoopGurlz. Poole has the potential to immediately slide into the starting lineup in the backcourt next to Amiyah Reynolds and/or Rashunda Jones.
Puryear and McCarthy will join what Purdue hopes in an up and coming frontcourt with the likes of Mary Ashley Stevenson, Mila Reynolds and Alaina Harper.
Desman Stephens:
One of the top targets in the class of 2024 still on Purdue's board is three-star athlete Desman Stephens. The former Boston College commit was visited by the Purdue staff during the bye week before coming back down to West Lafayette later that same week. The Boilermakers were in a strong position to land what they view as an inside linebacker, but a recent offer may make things more complex.
Stephens was offered by USC earlier this week and expressed a desire to take a visit with the Trojans. Rivals' Clint Cosgrove shared that he still believes Purdue will be in the running for the Michigan native, but it will have to fend off Lincoln Riley and company to do so. Stephens wants to make a decision this month, which bodes well for the Boilermakers if he is unable to get out to Southern California.
2024 football visitors on the horizon?
Along with Stephens, Purdue is still looking to beef up the 2024 recruiting class and have some targets in mind to do just that. This list will grow in the coming weeks, but JUCO offensive linemen Rod Green and Jaekwon Bouldin are both working on setting up official visits in West Lafayette for after the season. As is three-star wide receiver Kedarius Jones, whose two favorites are Purdue and Illinois.
