WF beats IU!

Unfortunately I think you're probably right on the Celtics. I don't really follow NBA but from what I've read, Boston seems to be headed in the right direction. It'd be worth a shot though.

Alford's wife already said she won't be going to Indiana so he's out. Not that I think the administration would go after him anyway. I'm really not sure who we would go after. I think Northern Iowa's coach came up in discussions last year but I don't know much about him.

I think Brad Stephens is on the verge of success with Ainge's Celtics reboot, and I doubt he'll be ready to leave to take over at IU if Crean is fired this year. I could be wrong; maybe Brad and/or family don't like Boston & want to go "Back Home Again". :D But I doubt it. Smart's already taken too... Maybe Alford will be ready for another move.
IU could always go after Pat Knight or Isiah Thomas.

NBA to college is a backwards move. Not happening with Stevens.

That depends on how you look at it. Financially, that's not necessarily true. Tom Crean makes more than 7 NBA coaches and is only about 200K under what Stephens makes. There are only 2 coaches in the NBA that make more than Calipari. You also have more control over your teams as a college coach, assuming personnel decisions aren't part of your contract.

Let's say coaching at Purdue is your dream job but you're currently coaching an NBA team. Then Purdue comes along and offers you 2 mil more than what you're making. Is it really a step back to take your dream job for more money?

Again, this scenario assumes that IU was in fact his dream job. Which, like I've said, I've never seen confirmed.

Seeing as how the usual posters I interact with on here will probably read this thread, I'm going to recant any optimism I had for IU about this season. The only bright spot in this game was that it likely signifies the end of the Crean era. I hope to God they call Stephens and offer a blank check.
Big Red, Thank you for showing the courage to come over here and respond. When I saw IU lost last night, my first reaction was "Thank God it was you guys that got the first loss". It was not out of meaness. It was just that it will limit some of the nonsense posts over here by some of the trolls. I hope we do not react toward you and the other IU fans with trollish behavior. One of our teams was bound to lose sometime. Just glad it wasn't us.

These are just kids, and they will be inconsistent at times. Both IU and Purdue are going to have bad games. However, each will continue to perform close to their norms. It seems WF was able to exploit the lack of defense in the middle, and IU lost their MOJO at the end of the game. They led much of the way and just tripped. WF is not a very good team, but they were good enough last night.

Good post. We all know that karma can be a real bitch......so I would think it's time to move on with the IU slamming, and hope PU takes care of business. Wow, did I just say that?

very good post. I'm personally happy that IU lost- but i'm not going to rub it in... Purdue will lose eventually this season- and we will feel just as lousy as they do.

Boiler Up!

I just hope they don't look North towards Valpo and Bryce Drew. I like Bryce way to much, it would drive me nuts to see him in Bloomington.

I haven't seen Valpo play much, but I read up on them/Bryce Drew after reading your comment. He seems like a guy that would be great for our program. I knew he had the experience as a player and from what I read it seems like he's been able to effectively apply that experience to his coaching. I'll have to start watching them.
