WF beats IU!

I can't for the life of me figure out how they (IU) ever got rated so high. Even before the loss to WF I thought they would be lucky to be top 25. Oh well, I would rather come into the season under ranked like we did. I think our team is very good and it was good for them to start out being snubbed, but the polls are catching up with the reality of who we are!

Wake Forest (Unranked) 82 IU (#13) 78 :)
I can live with the results, but kinda wanted them to play Vandy to get a better feel for both. IU hasn't seen a person they want to guard...and even with that....even with that...if IU has some discipline in the shot selection towards the last 3 or so minutes they probably win. Sometimes a shot at certain points in the game is not a good shot....even if the "right" person was shooting it at an appropriate location. A small play here and there and IU wins this..."Discipline" is not a word in Crean's vocabulary

I understand an IU fan liking Crean and Knight, but I cannot understand a basketball person liking both strictly for basketball. I almost choked when Walton said IU doesn't dribble the ball much. Poor guy seems bright in some areas and too much hyperbole in others.

Tom Arnold....I mean....Crean is done. I feel just like I did in Knights last couple of years. I don't want them firing his sorry ass now. He's a joke. ANYONE can recruit IU. So, nobody will convince me he can recruit worth a dang. BTW.... He can't coach and I love it. If IU can continue stinking up the place long enough, they won't have any "history" to worry about for recruiting players.

Agree with being content to be under-rated......"walk soft and carry 3 very big sticks! "

Because most of the media is a bunch of freaking idiots.

I don't know, I realize they are annoying but no fanbase deserves prolonged misery that lasts this long.

Crean is a terrible coach and even o am starting to feel for them. I'm not sure how that man has kept his job this long.

I'm still looking forward to beating them down on their home court though

When the B1G starts in-conference play things in Bloomington will get very ugly very quickly unless the defense improves radically.

If the candy-stripped fools never win another game, I will be a very happy camper. IU basketball is really the only sports team I genuinely root against and have a deep dislike of. Almost hatred. I hope Glass gives cream a 5 year extension!

I watched this game and I've seen more team play at the Co-Rec. This IU team can't guard anyone. They can't rebound. If they keep playing like this, they will be 5 or 6 in the B1G at best. They wonder why we chant "IU Sucks". Because the they do.

Clappy the clown didn't look too happy did he? IU has no inside game. WF kept driving the ball inside.

His face when Wake went up two at the end was priceless. It was like, "I just lost my job".

Was nice having him in Bloomington. Hate to see him go.

Seeing as how the usual posters I interact with on here will probably read this thread, I'm going to recant any optimism I had for IU about this season. The only bright spot in this game was that it likely signifies the end of the Crean era. I hope to God they call Stephens and offer a blank check.

There is a lot of really stupid people on Peegs. Let them be what they are, annoying and stupid, and enjoy this years BOILERS for all they're worth!
Absolutely...they can enjoy whatever they want. However, there used to be a time there were more posters more knowledgeable about the game...and it just baffles me. Maybe it is because I'm a little more purist and haven't accepted all the flash and show. Come to think of it I'm a little annoyed that Purdue thinks they have to entertain you during timeouts. I just want to watch basketball and would love to be inside the practices and huddles for the game...not the entertainment for entertainment sake. I love the game for what it is and rarely see things outside the lines... :)

Big Red, it is just one game...not a season. All that happened tonight was reveal what was suspected all along by all with an eye to see and an ear to hear. IU was good before and will be good again. Make no mistake I hate the way IU plays. I would have had a heart attack if I were in charge of them doing what he wants. By the same token there was a certain respect for the "way" IU played under Knight and Sampson, but it seems the world today is filled with flash and style and many of those driven by flash and style go to play for IU...many stars, but not team players. Anyway, I doubt IU is as good as they should be, but I'm sure they will be better than tonight...

Man, I'd like to believe you. But tonight I saw all the same problems that have plagued IU during the Crean tenure. I've tried and tried to believe that Crean was capable improving on his deficiencies but it's just not happening. We just got exploited by a mediocre team that doesn't have any experience with how we play. How am I supposed to be optimistic about going into conference and playing teams familiar with our style? Last year was really the final straw for me, and tonight was a step back as far as I'm concerned. An entire offseason and zero improvement whatsoever.

I understand, but it was one game. Teh players can pull it together if they are woven of the fabric of winners in spite of Crean. THERE is a lot of individual talent on IU . I actually saw improvement in IU's defense the year before Zeller and IU was as good as anyone Zeller's last year, but that may have more to do with the type of people playing for IU as well as the skill level. Make no mistake, I do not think Crean is a good coach, but there is a lot of season to play. Purdue has a team in every sense of the word, but not a lot of individual stars. IU will win a game they probably shouldn't and lose some more they shouldn't as well if I were a betting man...

Kendall's only a junior but for the 3 million a year Crean is getting maybe he would finish his degree in the summers since IU recruits itself.

I think he thinks Brad would be interested in the IU job should it be open. I know several on Peeg hope that would be the case and really think that is possible. I'm not so sure if he would or if he would be as good as they think...but he would be better than Crean.

I've read that he grew up an IU fan and supposedly made comments about it being a dream job (though I've never seen those comments.) And IU could afford to match what he's making in Boston. As far as your other comment, IU does have a lot of individual talent. The problem is that they play as individuals. As much as I despise Calipari, he knows how to get top players to play together. Crean hasn't shown an ability to do that. Bryant seems selfless, but Troy and JBJ...not so much.

And I thought Kendall Stephens was a sophomore?

I think Brad Stephens is on the verge of success with Ainge's Celtics reboot, and I doubt he'll be ready to leave to take over at IU if Crean is fired this year. I could be wrong; maybe Brad and/or family don't like Boston & want to go "Back Home Again". :D But I doubt it. Smart's already taken too... Maybe Alford will be ready for another move.
