Well, it's official....he gone.

They are most assuredly going to fire him if this trend of drugs and alcohol doesn't subside. McRobbie will make Dean Wormer look like Ghandi.
There is a big IU fan at my office that I talk hoops with quite regularly. We got into a discussion on this earlier in the week. His view was that Crean needs at least a Sweet 16 to have any chance of being the coach next season. But anything worse than 2-1 in the NCAAs and he's convinced Crean is out. His buyout dropped by a couple million $ at the start of the school year if I'm remembering right, which is only going to make buying him out that much more attractive. All in all, nothing would really surprise me in terms of him being let go. If I were Glass, I'd be doing some serious scenario planning in my downtime.

I have heard that as well. His buyout drops during the summer (July). As of now it stands at between 7 and 8 million and won't drop again until next July 1. But if IU can show cause he would likely negotiate something much less than the stated amount next Spring. Not making the Sweet 16 may spur some donors to part with huge cash but I wouldn't bet on it.

Well I, for one, hope they keep Tom Crean. He is so easy to dislike as a rival coach. I have a hard time vilifying some of the coaches we play against. CTC is easy to hate.

I think he is swimming upstream in a liberal arts campus that is too tolerant of drugs and alcohol. Now, this is my perception: I also think he has not engaged with the team members as tightly as he could have. I think he keeps some emotional distance between the kids and himself. This limits his influence on the kid's behavior. After all, if you consider Creaning them every year, you don't want to get too attactched to any one kid.

I believe there is some value in swift punishment, but that's fine if you view it differently. That wasn't really the point of my original post. Someone posted in this thread that IU was dragging its feet on punishing Holt because it took 6 or 7 or days to boot his dumbass. I merely pointed out that the timeframe for Purdue to settle on a penalty for Robinson's offense was 2 months, thus it seemed like point fingers at a 6-7 day turnaround was a little silly. Nothing more, nothing less. I think some are reading too much into what I wrote and misconstruing this as some form of support for Holt/IU/Crean/whatever.
Or you could have just left the original statement alone and none of this inane back and forth would have occurred. Happens every time the PC police show up at the scene.

It's almost so hard to believe, but it is funny.

Poor Bryant, now he's gonna have to deal with AJ, Isaac and Biggie all by himself. Good luck young fella!

Purdue is just such a massive mismatch for IU that I don't see anyway iu can avoid losing to Purdue for the fourth time in a row. Hammons, Haas, and Swanigan are going to do some serious stat padding in Bloomington.
