We need a long term strategy to improve our run game

We can't beat good teams consistently without a better run game. It's just too much pressure on the pass game, and makes it tough on our redzone offense and closing games out in the 4th. This has gone on for years, and nothing changes. It needs to finally be addressed for us to take that next step as a program. Yes we'll still win 8-9 games this year and be proud of the team. But with a run game, we could win 10-11 games and be champions. So I ask you fellow Knuckleheads - Do you want to be proud, or be a champion?

Everyone likes 3 step plans, so here is mine:

1. Get BoBo to increase assistant salary pool. Average B1G salary pool is $5M, we're at $4.3M. We're probably not getting to Ohio State level, but there is no reason we can't get to average B1G level. With the extra $700k, we go shopping for coaching upgrades. Hagen has shown what a coaching upgrade can add to recruiting and development.

2. Fire Barclay and Dale - and hire Hagen-like upgrades for OL and RB coach. The extra $700k in salary pool would allow us to hire top talent at OL and RB coach, and we need them. Olines are developed while RB's are recruited, so I would focus on an experienced Oline developer for OL coach, while at RB coach we hire a young energetic guy like Shep who can recruit. Dale can't develop or recruit, so he's pretty much worthless. Barclay is probably better than Dale at coaching, but doesn't recruit very well and we need better horses at RB.

3. Once a real OL/RB coaching team is in place, Brohm then has to commit to using the RB's more in the offense. It can be in run or pass game, but RB recruits need to know they will get their touches in our offense. We can't compete with Penn State and Ohio State when they have 5* all-world athletes at RB, while we trot out Doerue and a walkon.

In closing, I would just like to point out that this is the 5th year in a row that I am leading the "Fire Dale" bandwagon. Unfortunately he's still here, so I think it would help if others joined the cause. Write your local Athletic Director, coach, Board of Director, Brees, Rohrman or anyone else with some influence in the program. The time to act is now people!!
