Way to go Ray!!!

This is great. Raphael has had an inspiring college career - he really had trouble finding his groove, both in playing time had offensive success - and he's worked his butt off to become great at something that anyone can learn and become good at, you just have to be very motivated. His defensive play has kept him on the court, and from that, his offensive game has come to him.

Good work and hope to see him really bring it defensively in the postseason!

Actually, Ray has played really well on both sides of the court since he put on a Purdue jersey. He just wasn't given the minutes his first 2 years. He's averaging the same points per minute all 3 years. He's been the most consistent player we've had. That is what has kept him on the court. Many on here have denied that for 3 years now, but its the truth. He is the best defender on our team, he's the guy with the ball in his hands with the clock running out, he's the glue...he's our best player, and he's finally getting some recognition. Proud of you, Ray!

Awesome news and a great honor!! Way to go, Ray Day!!

Keep it going in the B1G and NCAA tournaments!

I think it speaks volumes about Purdue's turnaround that league coaches voted 2 Boilermakers to the All-Defense team (Ray Day, Hammons).

If I remember correctly, Purdue finished last in the B1G in points allowed per game last year.

Congrats to him. He earned it.

I am a little bit surprised. These all-conference picks are usually stat-driven (and team success-driven, of course) and he doesn't have high steal or block numbers, so I'm impressed that he was the chosen one. I thought he might be named to the all D team but didn't really think he'd be named DPOY.

I believe the coaches vote for this one. I agree that the media guys probably base it more on stats. But the coaches know who gave their best player the toughest game this year without looking at box scores.

Well done, Davis. A very meaningful award.

Exactly this. I'm also a little surprised he won (not surprised he's recognized for his D). congrats to Ray Day!!! He has played some pretty damn good D on some good players.
