They are Professional Athletes, many do not care about completing their degree and education. For those that wish to attend school as a normal student does cover all the things allowed. For those that do not wish to continue their education fine treat them just like they are an employee and get their pay under the new guidelines of revenue sharing by Athletic Program at the school they are working for.

Give it time, I feel like it is happening.

And personally if the players are getting paid millions I feel like they shouldn't also get their tuition and what not for free... seems kind of hypocritical to me. Use that money that would have gone to a scholarship to a millionaire and reduce the costs for everyone else.

I went to Purdue in the 70's. I had several classes that also had Walter Jordan, Parker and Walls. I saw them the first day and during finals. my guess is they passed the class. During the week of Thanksgiving. it was common for students to skip classes on Monday through Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Neon deon's son admitted all of his classes were taken online.

is today any different than the 70's ?

my thoughts are to pay athletes as if they are entertainers. Pay the football players for 12 performances. if they want to use our training facilities, charge them, other wise go to local gym . if they want to eat and sleep in our buildings, charge them. if they want to attend classes and get an education, let them pay for it.

There is a study posted over on the IU board about valuation of college sports teams. If studies are being done, the money folks are already waaaaaay ahead of the curve, figuring out how to turn these entities into dividends for share holders. The Universities will get a much smaller cut for THEIR branding, but everything else will shift to a corporate franchise.
