Here is what I see with calm and fresh eyes.

The bleeding away of the lead from 10 minutes to 4 minutes had nothing to do with press. They didn’t score off the turnovers they created and we rebounded those misses until the 4 minute mark.

They were scoring, and hitting 3s in the half court. We were neither scoring nor rebounding.

The press meltdown lasted only a handful of possessions once they already had it down in single digits and again, was not live ball transition points. They were torching our D but had to inbound and play against it. We were breaking it and scoring on it already after that 3 or 4 possession span.

The press doesn’t even matter if we don’t play poor offense and defense from 10 minutes down to 4.

It was good for all of 7 points for Iowa. They just came at a CRITICAL juncture, but it was critical because we had ALREADY given up a net of 12+ points.

Compared to the meltdown on #RickMountNight it was a hiccup.

Iowa is good on offense. We have work to do on defense. We knew that.

Y’all fragile about press defense.

(Says the guy who doesn’t watch the second half of Iowa games live 🤪 )

We should be more concerned about the open shooters and unproductive offense when we’re up 20 (Which puts Painters initial post game comments in context)
