that's a net gainKarlaftis to northwestern. Barf
Yanni is no doubt a good person but was definitely not George talent wise. Not even close. He must be a good student or he would not have been able to get into Northwestern. Look at it this way Yanni is getting a great education and we are getting an opponent with a less speedy LB to exploit.Once again you don’t know what you are talking about. 5 players have returned from the portal since they hired Odom and some have said they were waiting to see. Ryan Browne said he would wait and see and then left after we didn’t keep him and got Singleton. Yanni was expected to wait and I think it was apparent to him he would be recruited over. I think there are still some that could potentially come back like Davila and a couple of the DBs. But not too often you get 5 to come back like that.
Yanni was exactly as his high school coaches described him - enormous potential, none of his brothers drive.Yanni is no doubt a good person but was definitely not George talent wise. Not even close. today Anthony Boswell OT backed out of the portalWho knows how many of these guys the new coach and staff really wanted to keep. Im assuming 5 or 6.
This is laughable, why transferKarlaftis to northwestern. Barf

Northwestern is an extremely selective school accepting only 7% of applicants and is well perceived by academia.Great education? How so?
Davila is going to Nebraska, so he won’t be one coming back.Once again you don’t know what you are talking about. 5 players have returned from the portal since they hired Odom and some have said they were waiting to see. I won’t miss Heldt at all.Heldt to Clemson and Tibbs to K ST, also 10 players from UNLV entered today
I don’t get it. He’s got no chance to play there for 2 years. And if he sticks it out there, they could easily buy a guy from the portal who has actually played to start over him if he even becomes the backup there. He should be transferring down to actually play football.Davila is going to Nebraska, so he won’t be one coming back.
Meh. It was coaching. 1000%I won’t miss Heldt at all.
All he do was crash inside, and fail repeatedly to disrupt anything— leaving the edge wide open to fakes and RPO..
A rather cowardly DE— unable/ unwilling to stick his nose into the play to seal the edge.
I agree. I liked Heldt. Has all the physical tools, but needs a coach to instill the mental tools. He'll play on Sundays.Meh. It was coaching. 1000%
Not to say he’s great or ready to contribute at a school like Clemson but he was out there doing what he was told. It was bad and totally the wrong thing but he had no LBs to back him up and got benched a few times for making plays but not in the flow of what was called on defense.
We should be just fine without him but he’s a guy who still has potential to be good at the CFb level.
Who knows in another seven years from now he might be on some NFL teams practice squad.I don’t get it. He’s got no chance to play there for 2 years. Are you going to criticize Northwestern’s academic integrity?Great education? How so?
I’ll double down on my statement. You mentioned position players. Did any of them develop physically by redshirting? Were any of them better for redshirting? I can name just as many who didn’t redshirt who were just as good and didn’t redshirt. The entire point of redshirting linemen was to recruit smaller linemen and then use a year to beef them up. And my entire point was that any lineman that is worth anything was already on a weight and conditioning program in high school and one more year of drinking protein shakes is not going to add another 40 pounds to a 260 pound lineman or develop stronger muscles! You failed to grasp the main point of my argument and decided to go on your own tangent! The only reason the above players redshirted was because they were at a position where they didn’t start. Did they actually develop? Or were they actually just as good as freshmen but just didn’t have an opportunity to play?Nonsense. I would agree we had that issue under Hazel, but not brohm. How about the following position players developing:
- QB Aiden Oconnell (redshirted)
- QB Elijah Sindelar (redahirted)
- QB David Blough (redshirt)
- RB Sevin Mockobee (redshirted)
- RB Tyrone Tracy (RS)
- RB Zander Horvath (RS)
- WR Jackson Anthrop (RS)
The rest I’m too lazy to see if they all redshirted
- WR Jared Sparks
- WR DJ Knox
- TE Brycen Hopkins
- TE Payne Durham
- TE Max Klare
- WR Deon Burks
- WR David Bell
- TE Garrett Miller
- WR Broc Thompson (pre-injury)
- WR Charlie Jones
I’m not going to go into the OL and defene since there are not as much stats on and I can’t use facts to prove you wrong like I can with position players.
I would like to see when a player enters the portal the door is shut and they can’t come back. This will end some of this nonsense. And once again you know everything and I know nothing. You say 5 players entered the portal and then returned. Go ahead and name them! And who of those 5 players is an actual difference maker? Or will be a starter? And who of those 5 players actually got a better offer? And do you have any proof they actually entered the portal?
That’s like saying a player entering the nba combine is going to enter the nba draft!
So who entered the portal that decided to come back? And were they even serious about leaving in the first place?
Only 3 have withdrawn from the portal. Browne was technically gone when Singleton signed.Once again you don’t know what you are talking about. 5 players have returned from the portal since they hired Odom and some have said they were waiting to see. Selective applies to all Northwestern students. Your personal opinion of the worth or lack thereof of majors at Northwestern has no influence on the academic status of Northwestern University. It does however speak volumes as to your lack of intelligence. Northwestern is considered a top ten university (because of their selectivity and rigor) while Purdue is considered a top 50 institution.'Selective' does not apply to football players and legacies.
Further, selectiveness is not a measure of quality. Look at the NU website to see all the worthless or even frivolous majors that are offered.
No need to be insulting. I think an important element of intelligence is being skeptical in general - such as, for example, in not accepting without question the PR flacking that 'elite' universities continually spew out to justify their astronomical tuition costs.Selective applies to all Northwestern students.
