And no change in the coaches poll. A bit odd, but it's early so can't really complain. Wisconsin did fall out of both polls, and that was a lot of spots to fall. If we make it through to next Monday unscathed, we will have beaten another 3 teams... at that point we might see a bigger jump.
I care.. because high school recruits care. Recruits looks at the weekly rankings and soak in all the extra attention it brings. Seeing the number next to a team on a National TV game is important I think.
I care too. Everyone always says it doesn't matter. It does matter. If you are not in the polls to begin with it's harder to work your way up. But if your in, it easier to stay there. Look at over ranked IU for example. If thy keep winning their easy games they'll remain over ranked.

I too love seeing our name roll across ESPN with a ranking next to it. I think recruits like it too. They want to go to a winning program that gets national attention and see the team get some recognition.
The only reason I care is that they show the ranked teams scores more often scrolling on the bottom of my screen than non ranked teams, other than that it is rather meaningless this early.
