U19

Plenty of additional NIL opportunities, though if he changes his name..... :)

How much did Purdue have to pay to buyout Mayers contract? I tried to track this down but only found that people are just guessing. If anyone can find this, I would like to know.

Traveling so can’t watch, hoes DJ doing
I watched about half the game ( mostly when DJ was in). My frustration grew and grew while watching another all star format where the "stars" don't know how to pass into the post. They can jack up 40 footers, behind the back over the head shots, drive into a 7 footer and get swatted, etc...but they can't pass the ball inside.

DJ had 10 post ups with excellent position and no one knew how to get him the ball.

If you are over 7 feet tall and consider any school but Purdue, you are limiting yourself.

I watched both games. Sweden absolutely sucked they had no athletes and would lose to D2 and NAIA schools IMO. Daniel doesn't fit with this team of Non passers. Mayer will be good but today it was against lessor competition the likes of which he won't see in the USA. Either way it was two games in June.

Mayer showed at least what he is capable of…but 100% agree it will be a LOT more difficult in D1. However, it seems he is depended on to do EVERYTHING for this Israel U19 team, but good thing that won’t be the case at Purdue for him.

Excited to see him compete the rest of the way.

DJ getting the same treatment as last year from the shot chuckers, I fear.

I mean he's done similar stuff against much better competition every bit as equal as B10 and Div 1 play. The skepticism folks have about him is wild to me.

Eh not so sure about the competition being as equal to D1. Or maybe it’s more so the way the game is played with D1 compared to euro league. Euro guys come over here and haven’t made a HUGE impact on their team where they lead them on a deep run or win a P5 conference title. KJ was kinda close but he struggled a lot at times for Illinois (coulda been the injury but wasn’t a great defender either way).

Hope Mayer is different and kills it for Purdue.

He was a teammate of Trevion’s and played against Carsen. That’s pretty damn good competition to me.

You don't think the EuroLeague is equal? First, a lot of those guys make a lot of money over there, there's no need to come over here. Especially if it's clear they aren't quite NBA level.
Second, the EL has over 100 former NBA players in it. Third, there are currently almost 40 current NBA players who played in the EL. I'd suggest that combines to tell me that the competition in the EL is roughly equal to D1 and the B10, and arguably could be considered better.

I think it's pretty easy to see that Mayer is legit. I think it's going to be hard to keep him off of the court. We can argue about mins and all, but I'm just excited to see this team come together and hopefully all mesh well. If they do, I think we'll be very hard to beat.

Yes it is. I think I was more so trying to say that these kids that have come over here so far haven’t made a huge impact on helping their team advance deep into the tourney. He played an average of 2.6 mins in the euroleague, which is still very good.

And he doesn’t have to be THE guy when he comes over here right away, which really benefits him. He looks really good so far, but D1 also plays a different style than the Euro League so I think it’ll take some time for him to adjust. I can’t wait to see him with Braden though, well and everyone else haha

Yeah for sure. I think it’ll come down to how quick he can get over here and pick up the schemes. Especially defense.

I should have said the younger guys who come over here from there haven’t been as impactful in their first years. KJ was kind of but Illinois still was middle of the pack.

Mayer plays 2.6 min a game, again, that’s still impressive. The style over there seems to make it harder for a lot of the younger euros that come over here, to pick up the D1 game and make a heavy impact, at least right away. Good news is that he won’t be expected to have to do that this coming year. I am excited to see how he does with everyone.

He played 8 minutes a game, not 2.
