I’ve seen a few different predictions of a possible 2 seed for Purdue. Has anyone else seen these?
After the Auburn game I highly doubt anyone could see this team in the discussion for a 2 seed or a 3 seed to be honest.

Yeah still early, and notice that in the top one they have 11 different teams that have a 3-seed in their projected range. That's a lot of teams, speaking to how even that cluster of teams is. One mediocre loss and at team like Purdue would drop to the back end of that group. But we've made such a move in the last few weeks that 2-3 is absolutely warranted.

We are the 3rd #4 seed on the matrix currently, but most of the brackets there don't include Saturday, which resulted in major shifting across the landscape not just us.

This year's team is starting to remind me of 2018-19.

That team also started off rocky (6-5 after losing to ND in mid-December). They won 17 of their next 20 games and eventually shared the B1G title with MSU. They got a #3 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Elite 8. I don't think anybody saw that coming in the first six weeks of the season.

Yup. Seen if we were to win the B1G outright, with 3 losses, we are more than likely a 1 seed…which would be insane 😂

Yeah 25-6 would be in decent shape for a #1. Gotta figure (at least) 2 SEC teams and Duke look really good for 1s. The ACC competition is just not strong enough to give Duke more than 3 more losses. The top of the Big East is not looking good right now, so yeah 17-3 in the balanced B1G should make that happen.

But Iowa State in there too.

Yeah for sure. Would be one of paints best coaching years if that happens haha. I’m thinking 15-5ish will win it. MSU needs to start losing a few here… 😂

MSU will have to lose a wheel to get to 5 conference loses … I’m guessing they drop maybe 3-4 but would love to see that wheel come off… the sooner the better lol.

Not so sure. According to KenPom, only Michigan has had an easier B1G schedule to date.
Shit our B1G schedule thus far has actually been on the easier side of things looking at who we’ve played and who we still have to play…BUT theirs had been pretty light

They have a rough time coming. I see three losses easy. They will likely pick up a 4th somewhere. So we have up to 3 losses to tie, think we get to that.

The refs aren't going to save them every time like they did with IL by taking out the IL star PG. At least two of those fouls were flat out corrupt calls. Can you imagine if they do that to Smith? Crazy.

True, but Purdue has already played 5 Big Ten road games. If Purdue can go undefeated at home from here on out, it is hard to see how Purdue isn’t at least tied for the title.

ESPN’s Lunardi has the Boilers a 2 seed now, fwiw.
That seems about right given our resume to date and this team's performance the last seven games. This team has a long way to go to get to the point where they're consistently playing to their potential. Hopefully they take another step forward tonight against a talented OSU team.

Interestingly, I looked a little at the rest of Duke's schedule, because I noticed that they are only 5-2 in Q1+Q2 right now. For comparison, Auburn is 11-1, Purdue is 9-4. Duke has the fewest number of Q1+Q2 wins in the top 13 of the NET.

The rest of the way, currently at least, they only have 6 more Q1+Q2 opponents, and one of them is actually Illinois.

The ACC is just that mediocre this year. Some of the Q3s could move to Q2 over time, sure, but that's a poor schedule.

just a tad premature to be predicting a 2 seed. there is a lot of basketball left to be played. and a lot of basketball to be played against good teams.

Mr. Hindsight
If you read an earlier post of mine, you would have seen I said ratings and bracket predictions in January were a bit premature. I went on to say a 6 seed was as good as a 2 seed. That was after the Oregon win and before the OSU loss. And there were comments about me being a blind squirrel gathering nuts. I hate to be the barer of bad news but this blind squirrel you keep dissing is more accurate than the majority of this board. You don’t don’t understand why and that’s why you love to diss me!

But since you don’t believe my words, just carry on and look stupid!

Oh yeah, I can see us being a #2 seed. Oh sure! It’s time some of you came back down to Earth. Purdue’s chances of being a 2 seed are about the same as Edey making rookie of the year. It’s possible but I’m not going to put money down and bet on it.

As losses go, this was not a quality one. We looked too far into the future. And kind of took OSU at home as a given. I’ve seen this too often from Purdue teams, especially in the tourney when they look ahead to the second game and forget to take care of business against the easy opponent.

Purdue’s basketball history is filled with broken records. You come off a big win, receive personal awards, talk about painter being a hall of famer deserving of a lifetime contract and then the team lays an egg against an easy team

The bolded part is just plain stupid. You obviously know nothing about the history of the tournament and seeding.

You’re not accurate. You just post things we already know and have already happened lol.

And you also post ridiculous things like “a 6 seed is as good as a 2 seed”. Why would this be? Do you understand the history of the tournament and seeding?
