(2) Trump transition members have been involved in the negotiations since the election as they are the incoming administration (not allowing would be stupid and does not allow for an efficient transition). (3) This was confirmed during the lengthy press conference last week. (4) To juxtapose, the Biden administration NEVER made humanitarian aid contingent upon the release of hostages and therefore what would you expect to change if hundreds of millions continued to flow to the hostage takers? (5) And you just defeated your argument in saying these negotiations have been going on for months, yet oddly an agreement has been agreed to but a few days prior to a new administration. I am sure that BNI and others such as Cap’n Cut-n-Paste are completely unaware that Mexico has instituted a policy of scoop, distribute, and exhaust. I.e. they are putting them in processing camps far from the border and just waiting them out and people are turning back. So it’s a de facto halting of migration from the south. If you were Hamas, wouldn't you play the long game? They don't want to ignore Trump's words knowing that "sometime not declared" (unlike some before him) he will follow through. They know to not push the tiger and hope the people in the USA forget and vote dumb again in four years...or possibly longer. I'm happy, but when things happen it is always appropriate to ask...what happened and why now? Having known Ulric Haynes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulric_Haynes (RIP) due to his friendship with a brother-in-law and one of the negotiators in the 400 day hostage situation in Iran I realize his and others never contributed to the release. It wasn't until the day Reagan took office that they were released and we know why that is so. Same with Trump, and they can wait out for him to leave office with anticipation that another won't carry the stick Reagan and Trump carried. They will play the long game...
