Tonight

I forgot about those split finger tips. Man that was a long time ago.
Yeah, fun times...and then like a thief in the night it is all gone. I had so many twisted ankles I actually tighten up the stomach if I see someone else get a bad twist on TV. Took a ring finger on my right hand and put it at a 90 and tore a quick twitch muscle cutting baseline off a Kreigh Smith pass. Someday I probably need to get rid of some shoes (Top 10 were my favorite), some jocks, ankle brace and knee "warmer (not much of a brace) "...that have no had use in over 20 years!!!

Reminders of a lot of good times that are no longer...

Say you don't know what you're talking about without saying you don't know what you're talking about. In case you didn't know, Pete is 160th all time in assists in his NBA career. Only 12,000 behind Stockton, 9000 behind Jason Kidd, 8000 behind Chris Paul and 7000 behind LeBron James. Maravich had some flashy passes, but everyone does. He was known for his scoring. Definitely not his passing. There are centers like Nikola Jokic that are way better passers.
93rd in assists per game, shorter career but well behind those you mentioned. Was a shoot/score guy for not-great teams, but I get it.

Pistol Pete is long gone, but YouTube always is with us. Worth a look.

a person's ability to pass the ball and handle the ball has NO highly correlated direct relationship with assists. If it did, Braden would have over twice what he does. Youth has a small database and has no idea of how good of a ball handler he was. Just like he doesn't understand scoring and the 3 ball and so many other things like NPOTY that I wasted minutes on. He can believe what he wants and I'm not going to go around wasting my time correcting him on most things he types. It is but a good reminder of pity for those teachers that don't teach AP classes...

Well it kind of does. Passing ability, court vision, willing to pass, flair... It is a combination. It's what puts others well ahead of him. Kobe could pass the rock... When he wanted to. No one is saying Kobe is one of the greatest passers of all time.

You just proved tjreese's point, and don't know it.

Why do I have to break down things so simple? I said Braden could have twice as many as he does "IF" shots are made. The best ball handling, the best passing gets no notice later in life if shots are missed...or if that was a hockey assist. You haven't seen him play...that is obvious. I have and have 4 ball handling tapes of his. I saw him play for Press. I'm not going to debate things with you once I give you the answer...just like I wasted too much time telling you Zach would be NPOTY and how many posts were wasted on that? Believe what youu want...you will anyway...

I believe this is pretty much a copy of his passing drills. If you want to skip to a funny story go to 32:50. I believe this was produced about one week before his death

Bird, a very credible judge of talent.

IMWRONG has shown that he knew absolutely nothing about Pete Maravich before he opened this thread.
@BoilerAndy When you watched him at the time you could see how good he was handling the ball. He would make perfect passes that were dropped due to people not thinking they would get the ball...so no assist. Any number needs context. Pistol was quite amazing. Listen to at least the 32:50 story he tells in his passing video as well as his example of one of his passes... ;)

Smith has literally nothing to do with Pistol Pete. You've still not proven anything about Pete being one of the passes ever. Literally everything is against him. Handles? Lol. Yea point guards today have insane handles. Passing? Pete isn't even Top 150 in career assists and is barely Top 100 in assists per game, and he's dropping in each as players pass him.

Sure didn't. Maybe try reading again. Y'all think he's great because he had some flashy passes every now and then lol. You can literally watch a tape of Jason Williams and get that(who also had more assists and averaged more assists). Pete was good, but saying there is no equal in terms of passing is just absolute ignorance.

read his comments below to see how he is incapable of connecting the dots even though they are almost touching. Then notice his reference to "absolute ignorance". It is as though he is here to entertain us. Takes me to ole Rummy's quote-

As much as I enjoyed watching Pete play, my best memory was him coming to visit our Sailors and their families in LaMaddalena Sardinia, Italy. He was so good with not just the Sailors but all those little kids with their basketballs. And I can close my eyes and still see him with his knees up around his shoulders as he hit loose gravel and drove my first sports car, a Fiat convertible, over the ledge of the road. I would have been dead meat with the Commodore had Pete injured himself!!! But one of my best sea stories ever!!! Pete was just a genuinely good person…

Yes, that was very unique. I played against him twice in HS. We had a good team and he outscored our whole team. We played at the Lebanon park often during the summers. and I went fishing with him several times. My dad and I hunted with him and his pharmacist mentor several times. He was (and still is) a fascinating person.
Yeah, but what about his hair cut 🤣

Wow. As I said, you proved his point, and you don't know it. You can stop trying.
