Today’s Joey Brackets. Take this right now!

For me personally, that bracket would suck.
Degrees from both PU and ND and a sister and other friends who went to Butler. No fun cheering against teams you like.

I think that would be very unfair to Purdue to have a possible elite eight match up vs Kansas in Omaha, NE That place would be all Crimson and Blue

Agreed. Kansas should be sent out of the midwest this year unless they get a 1 or 2 seed.

Yeah, I think Lunardi does an OK job but he really seems to miss the locations where teams are placed.

It also seems like over the past 3-4 years even as a 4-5 seed we have been placed at sites NOT close to the Midwest.

I don't want any part of Kansas. They're still the type of team that hurts PU with their perimeter quickness and offensive rebounding. We still don't match up real well with really athletic teams or good rebounding teams. But then again....maybe this is our year!

I'm Kansas fan and I totally agree, unless they are a top 2 seed they shouldn't be in the Midwest. It reminds of 2007 when Kansas was a 1 seed and UCLA was a 2 seed in the West bracket. We ended up having to play the Bruins in the elight 8 in....LA. Needless to say KU fans weren't happy, made absolutely no sense.

Your correct on one of those fronts. We are a very quick team but a terrible rebounding team. Very timid bunch that doesn't hit the boards hard at all. I would take Purdue in that match up by 4-8 points. Your balance would cause us big problems

Yup. When KU was 2 seed and Hummel led team was 10 seed, we also played in Omaha. Does not make sense with seeding this year for KU to be in Omaha.

I'll take that bracket in a heartbeat. Think Tenn rematch would be fun even tho their athletic forwards are exactly the type that give us trouble.

Still remember the feeling of "Holy $hit, we might win this game".....until UK guards turned us over and our lead evaporated quickly. Still thought Hummel's last second 3 looked good when it left his hand...rimming. no.

Pretty sure Byrd took the last shot, from the right side about 1/2 court.

Preston getting eligible would change a lot ..... wouldn't it?

Maybe, Hes still a Freshman so you never know what your going to get. To be honest most Kansas fans, including myself, are sick of the whole discussion surrounding him. Hes more of a finesse power forward anyways, but yes we are definitely low on bodies.

great answer. thanks

My guess on the Final Four would be Nova, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Purdue. It could also be a year where one or more 5+ seeds make it to the final four. That path looked as good as any we could ask for to win a championship. I think right now most people have Nova and Purdue as the two favorites. If only we have beaten Tennessee we could have had a preview of that matchup!

I would love to avoid the same bracket as Villanova and Duke and I'd like to not to have to play another team on their pseudo-homecourt.

A No. 1 seed would be outstanding, but if we are that fortunate, I sure don't want to be in the same bracket as Kansas. That's one team I would rather not play at least not until the final 4.

jags and purdue, what a time to be alive for me!
I live in Jax also...this past month has been one of my best sports months EVER!

Unfortunately we left the restaurant on Sunday as soon as the Saints kicked the "game winning" field goal and I was telling my wife how awesome this sports season has been. Then I get home and find out the Saints lost...but the Jags won so I'm not too bummed.

The Saints did not lose, they had their hearts ripped out. At least that's the fan bases take on things.

As a Kansas fan I don't quite understand the apprehension of possibly playing us from Purdue fans. I have seen it a few times on this board, I think your balance and inside/outside scoring would give us fits not to mention your depth. I get it that we are athletic and we will continue to get better but still....

For me it's because my wife went to KU and I think she is 3-1 since we have been together. Could be 2-1 not sure. 94, 2011? last year. Is there another game in there somewhere?

I have confidence in our team, but the nightmare from last year hasn't quite evaporated from my memory just yet. Their big comeback on the road against West Virginia tells me they are heating up. If we do end up in another match-up against Kansas, I just hope it as far away as possible from the state of Kanas!

It must just be memories of last year, because I don't get it either. KU is good but not as good as last year. Other than Azuibuke (I think I spelled it right) there is nothing down low, and he quickly collects stupid fouls as many freshman big men do. Lightfoot looks pretty useless, at least he did against WVU. Haas would have some troubles defensively for sure. I just see what would likely be a good game with Purdue favored by 2 or so points in Vegas and I would lean Purdue as well.

That come back last night didn't scare me at all. It just showed me that WVU is the same team they have been for the last few years. If they can't force turnovers and turn that into easy offense, then they will really struggle to score. They are a poor 3-point shooting team, 33.5% on the season, but shot I think 31 threes last night? I could call every single Javon Carter pull up 3 before it happened because that is about the only offense they run. If Kansas would have hit their open 3s, I think they were rushing them, it would have been a 10-point KU win. Fun game to watch tho, KU will at least win a share of the Big 12 again.

Well let me put your mind to ease, Frank Mason and Josh Jackson wont be running out of that tunnel. Devonte Graham is still a great player and if we are hitting shots we can be a handful but this team is completely different.

One of my good buddies is a Boilermaker and we were chatting about this last week, Kansas and Purdue have only played twice in the regular season in 1948 and 1950. 4 times in the tournament (1994,1997,2012,2017). Yes you are correct Kansas is 3-1 in those 4 match ups, losing in 1994

I do know if we matched up Self would try to isolate the size of Haas. What I'm referring to is keep him free throw line extended and not give him a chance of catching the ball on the block. With that being said we would throw an even smaller line up against Purdue to try to execute this. We did this exact same thing on Swanigan last year when we would put Jackson on him. Would it work this time around who knows because I think Purdue does a much better job in its offensive sets this year, not as many empty possessions. And offensively we would try to make the game an absolute track meet and get easy buckets in transition because I think we would struggle scoring against you guys in the half court. Would be a very interesting game

Bronco16 is right on target in my opinion. Last year, when we got a bit behind against Kansas, we fell into the trap of playing "hero ball". Swanigan tried to bring the team back by putting it on his shoulders, so he was taking the majority of shots. That was obvious to the Kansas team who zero'd in on defending him. With each round of hero-ball we would fall another 2 points behind.

We don't play that sort of ball this year, although Carson Edwards might think he has that responsibility to try it sometimes. I would expect us to run better sets and get baskets even in a dry spell much better than we did last year. That might be enough improved play to get us past this year's Kansas team. It would still be a hell of a game I'd watch!
