Tobias Larry no longer with the program...

Purdue recruiting situation Bell > Holt > Williams. We need someone to leave the class to add Williams. That decision will be made this weekend by our coaches and you will hear about it next week on where Cam signs (95% chance of IU as of right now).

I thought we had the ability to shift an early enrollee to overcome that.

Yes. Brohm's 2017 class had 24 signers plus 4 grad transfers (2 OL, McCollum, and Evans.). That's 28 against the initial counter, but was offset by 5 early enrollees counting against 2016.

Room can be made for Cam Williams

They changed the rule to a hard 25.

Link?
Yes, I've Google. Can't find it. I'd appreciate the help.
My link is my sister in laws boyfriend who works for Notre Dame's football team. I've linked his profile before on KHC, but won't do it on the free board.

Same guy who told you Neal Brown was the next coach at Texas Tech?

Couldn’t we just up compensation to Nick Holt to cover cost of attendance and have Ben without a scholarship?

I think the number is much more the hard 85 than it is the 25 for this year:

2018 Class Size: 24 with early enrollees of Plummer, Marks, Trice, and Anderson
2018 Actual Class Size: 20
2019 Class Size: Currently 24 with Bell a likely 25th: Subtract GK, Piferi, Jalen Graham, Spencer Holsege...possibly Grant as well.
2019 Actual Current Size w/ Bell as a Boiler: 21
2019 Room to Add: 3 to 4 more prospects (Williams, Holt, & Wahlberg)

Current number of scholarships @ Purdue including 2019 Commits & Bell: 82
Removing Tobias Larry as well: 81

Brohm has room to add the players he needs to add or he feels he wants to add in this class.

This is more than likely the scholarship for Ben Holt.

If Bailey goes to the draft, and Barnes gets moved to DE, there will be a pretty big immediate need for linebacker. But, in that scenario, Bailey frees up a scholarship.

Alexander also has shown that he can play at the next level and did some nice things when called upon. Linebacker is such an interesting spot, because if Barnes and Bailey both are playing LB next year, that position has a bunch of experience and depth. But in the previously mentioned scenario, LB will be a position of great need. We will know more once Bailey makes his decision known. I don’t think we will know about Barnes until spring practices start up. But I could see him moving like EZE did to make room for TJ. That move yielded a lot of success.

The one plus side of Bailey leaving is that it certainly will keep Purdue’s drafted player streak alive. Which, through The Haze, that is made that much more impressive.

NO changed this year per Brian-Hard Cap of 25

Youre forgetting to count the grad transfers

I understand the hard 25 cap rule but early enrollees count towards last year...technically speaking if a school signed 20 in the 2018 class, they could have a class of 30 in 2019 if they had 5 early enrollees. I'm not sure how that is difficult to understand.
Brian says No so check with him.

Who is Wahlberg?

Can you explain how the grad transfers from 2017 would count toward the 2018 or 2019 classes? I have found zero rules on that at all.
I am sure CJB and staff know what the rules are and how to manage. I don't think they would leave themselves with no room to work before the early signing period. I work in an emissions sensitive industry and I know the rules pretty well. I also have two guys that live, eat and breath that crap every day. They make the final call, because they know best.
