To put last night into an historical perspective

In the 2014-15 season, Wisconsin went to Rutgers in the second week of January, ranked #4 with a 15-1 record, and lost to a Rutgers team with virtually little talent. Rutgers was coached by Eddie Jordan and would end up with a 2-16 B1G record, and 10-22 overall. Meanwhile, Wisconsin, whose roster included the likes of Frank Kaminsky, Sam Dekker, Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig would recover and go on to win the B1G with a 16-2 record, win the B1G Tournament, win their NCAA regional, defeat #1 and undefeated Kentucky in the Final Four, and lose the national championship game to Duke, a team they had lost to during the regular season.

Can Purdue repeat that kind of season? I think the pieces are there. We just need to get better, and we actually have an extra month to do that over what Wisconsin faced after their loss that January. I watched the North Carolina game again earlier this week and I noticed how much more maturity our team has been showing of late. Granted last night was a setback, but those things happen.

We have some winnable games coming up here and we need to work the kinks out and get ready for the remainder of the B1G season. It's going to be a challenge, but it always is, and we have done it before. Just stay optimistic and keep plugging away. There's a long way to go yet.

Grind it out.
