Couple of Purdue/Painter nuggets in there, including the following. Yikes. Let's hope Painter can prove him wrong.

"This means that if the tournament were to start today, Purdue would be the only Big Ten team expected to make the Sweet 16, which isn’t exactly reassuring considering that I wouldn’t trust Boilermakers head coach Matt Painter to make me a sandwich — let alone lead a team with obvious flaws to two tourney wins."

Should have started with this rather than end with it, save us all a minute.

"I JUST WANT BRAD STEVENS TO COME HOME AND COACH INDIANA, GODDAMMIT. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?"

I generally like his articles. And he is not totally wrong in that the Big Ten is not playing excellent basketball right now. What I think he missed though is that I think most of the leagues are not playing particularly great right now. Outside of about 5 teams, most teams have been playing pretty "meh".

He's a fan with an opinion. Have read him up to this point because he's somewhat entertaining. After this though he can go pound sand. Doesn't take a great basketball mind to point out the lack of a high level team in the Big Ten this year.

Seems a bit harsh......but then again after the last two years, maybe not. That's the way they write though nowadays -- anything to up the click count....

1. What team does not have obvious flaws?
2. I have it on good authority Painter makes excellent sandwiches.

I don't think it is anything personal. People say similar things about Bill Self. It is simply time for Painter and Purdue to make a run in the tourney. When it comes time to fill out the brackets, who isn't going to have flashbacks to Little Rock and Cincinnati?

Excellent post. Every team has flaws. The article is nothing more than crappy clickbait like you said.

When you make a crack about not trusting him to make a sandwich that seems less professional to me. And that's fine. I just don't have to give him my attention.

At the end of the day he's just a fan with a platform. Doesn't mean he provides any great analysis.

I don't know. I thought his article on Swanigan last month where he had multiple video clips showing the little things that Caleb does was pretty good analysis.

Could be. Never said that he wasn't capable. Just that he's a fan with a platform and that doesn't mean that everything he writes has any more insight than any other average fan. If you think he's provides great insight, that's fine. He's lost the opportunity to prove that to me going forward because I'm not going to read him anymore.

True. Also, he is not drawing a paycheck as a professional color commentator for a national TV broadcast. :D

He was on the roster at OSU albeit as a bench warmer, so I'd say he has more knowledge than most other fans. The piece he did on the Purdue/IU rivalry for Grantland was pretty good.

The Painter slam was unnecessarily inflammatory, but his larger point has validity. It's no secret that Purdue has struggled in the NCAA tournament lately.

2011 -- lost to 11-seed VCU in a Round of 32 game that was never competitive
2012 --- failed to hold a late lead against Kansas in the Round of 32
2015 --- failed to hold a late lead against Cincinnati in the Round of 64
2016 --- failed to hold a late lead against Arkansas-LR in the Round of 64

Until that changes, people will question Painter's ability to win in March.

He's 8-8 in the NCAA Tournament at Purdue. Could be better but you could make the point without being a smart ass about it too. If that's his writing style then it is. I don't have to subject myself to the musings of an mentally unbalanced guy who sat at the end of the bench of a decent college basketball team a decade ago. Might as well listen to Bobby Riddell or Mark Wohlford.

Your such a Polyanna. Painter's sandwhiches never make it far into the evening. They always get soggy and some nobody tosses them out early.

TC4Three: "When you make a crack about not trusting him to make a sandwich that seems less professional to me."

So that's your reason for stating that you'll never read an article by him again? That seems either a bit sensitive or a bit petty on your part. You never make jokes at someone's expense when there's some truth to it?

That's his style, always has been. He's a funny guy and offers very good insight into the college game. Cheap shot maybe but I doubt Painters feelings got hurt.

Chill out people, he was making a joke. I'm as big a Painter fan there is and I got a good laugh. Titus knows his stuff and has always been good to Purdue. The same types of things were said about Jay Wright before last season.

well hell, no reason for any Big Ten team to play in the NCAA this year, since its set in stone no team will do any good this year. Talk means nothing, its what you do, lets see what happens.

But we all loved Bobby Buckets!!!

I'm not above being petty.

Titus is messed up. Clinically depressed IU wannabe who sat the bench at Ohio State but apparently never really got past his juvenile IU love to actually be a true Buckeye. Like I said, he is just a fan with an opinion. No reason I need to give any validation to his stuff by clicking on it. I'll let him be a smart ass on your time instead.
