Do Pell grants fall under the jurisdiction of the DoE?
What exactly is the mission of the DoE and what examples can be provided to demonstrate success?

Here's an example, albeit at the state level: Chicago public schools is near the top of the list in per-student spending, yet they have terrible graduation rates and reading/math scores. That's a failure of the system.
Yes, the Pell Grants fall under the jurisdiction of the Dept of Education.

The mission:

As far as the Chicago public schools. We've discussed this over and over. I told y'all, the low graduation rates and test scores are not because of the system, bad teachers, bad schools. I've seen this first hand when I was in elementary and junior high back in the 70's. I went to school with some of these kids in the public school system. The low graduation rates are due to the kids themselves and parents, most likely a single parent that do not value education from the time the child enters kindergarten. This continues throughout K-12. A lot of these kid have behavior problems. Teachers are constantly trying to control the kids behavior in class. This disrupts learning. A lot of these kids I feel had some sort of PTSD from all of the violence and death they see the moment they come out of the womb. My mother checked my homework and made sure that is was done for one and done correctly. The parent(s) of these kids do not do this. These parent(s) do not read to these kids when they are young, perhaps to reading deficiencies themselves. These parents do not know how to be parents. Therefore, by the time the kid gets to high school they are way behind. Low test scores are the result. Low graduation rates follows. The schools are hand tied of what they can do with these kids. The kids that do score well on the tests, graduate and go to college are the ones that value education and perhaps had good parents. The bottom line is that the Dept of Education and the local school system can only do so much from what they have to work with.

What do you republicans and Flavor Aiders have against the Dept. of Education? Tired of black folks getting Pell Grants?
The federal Department of Education has a building full of employees. Just want to know what they do that the state Department of Education doesn’t do. Is it really a necessary Department?

Playing the whataboutism game here.
Oklahoma is 49th in education and their state school superintendent just purchased 500 bibles to be put in every classroom. Do you think that's the best way to spend his time and the taxpayer's money considering the performance of his schools?

He also tried to require every student to watch a video of him praying for trump and trashing teacher unions. Didn't work out too well. Neither did his blatant attempt to get the education secretary position.

I think this was a shrewd political move by DJT.
wtf. A very astute move to nominate a guy who his hated by many in his party and who was about to be nailed by a House report into his alleged activities with a minor. Then have him withdraw.
Please explain the 4D chess move. This should be good.

So you believe the Bible is a bad book to have available to children Bob? Am I correct in that assumption?

There were errors in the earlier English translated Bibles. The errors were corrected in the King James Version. Later versions of the Bible may be easier to read but have either deleted or added verses and texts thus adding errors back to the Bible in those versions. The Catholic Bible is totally inaccurate.
The Catholic Bible is similar to KJV, isn't it, so how could it be totally inaccurate?

So you're saying the left wing factcheckers fixed the KJV to meet their interpretation.

Oh no. I went to a Catholic high school and was astonished on many differences between Catholicism and the Protestant churches I grew up going to. The Catholic Bible has 73 books. The Protestant Bibles including the KJV has 66.

One inaccuracy that I would mention is the Ten Commandments. In the KJV, the second commandment is “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.”.

In the Catholic Bible the second commandment is "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain”. Which is actually the third commandment in the KJV. Since the Catholics removed the real 2nd commandment they broke up the tenth commandment into two. Covet thy neighbor’s wife and covet that neighbor’s goods.

Cut your BS. Never said anything of the kind.

Teach your kids about and let them read your Bible at church or at home or in the village square or on the top of the mountain. You don't get to do it in the schools. Not all the children believe in what you believe.

Oh.......and it violates the establishment clause in the first amendment.

So, I'm right about you and the kids.

My other question about Bibles in the public schools is are the Bibles available for the students to read it on their own. Or is some teacher going to teach the students topics from the Bible. There are a lot of false pastors from various churches out there alone teaching jacked up doctrine. How is some teacher with no theology training going to teach proper religious doctrine?

The teachers shouldn't be teaching religious doctrine. Do it at home or at your church all you want.

Gaetz had the potential to be a political liability. By resigning from his seat in the house, the investigation into him was dropped. It's highly unlikely he would have been confirmed as AG, a battle probably not worth fighting for Trump.
Trumps eliminates 2 hurdles, Gaetz clears his name and becomes a highly paid lobbyist. Done and Done.

The guy in Oklahoma was requiring schools to purchase and use the Donald Trump for-profit version at over $59.99 a pop, when there are unlimited major distributor King James Bibles available for $10.00 - $15.00 per.
Oh, the Chump Bible. That figures.

How do folks home school their children when they have no educational training to do so? Are they helping or hurting their kids?
Smh
NO ONE should be teaching religious doctrine in schools, qualified or otherwise. Teachers, chaplains like they do in Texas. Nobody. You're clearly viewing my answers through a prism that says it's ok to teach religion in schools. It's not.

Should teachers be allowed to put the alphabet soup flag in their classrooms?
I don't believe teachers should promote any political or religious beliefs in the classroom. I assume the alphabet soup flag refers to something LGBTQ. Lifestyles shouldn't be promoted either.

A good teacher should promote intelligent and respectful debate on such topics while taking no positions on them. I'm good with that. Many people aren't, on both sides of the aisle.

what about a coach praying on the field with his team after a game?

I agree about what a teachers role and responsibility should be, but we all know, and have seen, how some of the very liberal teachers let their personal beliefs and political view infiltrate the classroom.

And we're seeing your side do it right now in Oklahoma. Why can't you ever admit you guys do it too?

I am against any religious exercise at a government function, school or otherwise. It's likely there are football players on the team that are non Christian. Jews, Muslims, people who don't have religious beliefs. But it happens all the time at school functions outside the classroom. Sports events, commencements, meetings. Guess what? 99.99% of the time we non Christians say nothing. I bow my head out of respect for YOUR RELIGION even though I don't believe in it. We just let it go. Live and let live.

You MAGA grievance warriors should try it sometime.

I know what a GOOD TEACHER is Bob. I was married to one of the best until her passing from a brain tumor. Lines two wide around a city block at her viewing. A mile and half long procession to her entombment. A stack of letters of love and appreciation from her students of 30 years that is almost 2" thick. The teachers in her school (public) prayed as a group every morning before class and had prayers for those with special needs of any type as needed. Thank God she never had to deal with the woke classroom or the lunacy that exists about education today.
