This team is limited by only 2 things

I have to agree with FiveWeight here. Improve our long range shooting and we start killing people. (If Stephens, Mathias and Cline all hit just one more per game than before it will pay huge dividends imo.) This 3 point shooting theory is nothing new but it's so obvious that it bears repeating.

Yep. I know that it is drilled into their heads that they should play inside to outside game, but I wonder what kind of fine line that is to the specialists from distance. I can't seem to put my thoughts into words at the moment, but the bigs have the easier job.......gimme the ball and I'll shoot it, whereas the "bombers" have to be more decisive. And that has been a challenge I think. I would like to see AJ, Haas, Caleb pass it out more often to a KS, Cline, Mathias who are in better position and squared up for the three. I don't know, just my opinion, but seems like this has been missing for awhile. Could be wrong though.

Good question, and I have one more:
1) Please explain how someone else other than Painter's "Sweet Sixteen ceiling" coaching allows the Baby Boilers to not mss a beat and make the Final Four after Hummel blew out his knee in Minneapolis, with Purdue all but guaranteed a #1 seed at the time.

That's a good point. That Purdue team before Hummel's injury was playing at a very high level. They went on the road at MSU and Ohio St the week before Hummel's injury and had double digit leads before winning. If Hummel had not gotten injured and they beat MSU the following Sunday. Purdue would have been ranked #1 in the nation. I truly believe that was a Final 4 team. IF they had reached the Final 4 that year. What would the narrative be today?

My point being this is a good team this year. It has potential. I just read the interview with Mount. Mount says they can reach the Final 4 but they need more consistent outside shooting. I agree. But one issue is with Purdue's frustrated past. Fans put pressure on the next potential Purdue team to make up for past disappointments. Forget the past and hope this team improves.
