Things you still think we need more of?

For me, I would like to see more attacking the rim.

I don't want the dribble drive offense of IU. But with the new rules. We could use more of a rim attack at times.

Whether it be ball screens or pick and roll situations, or even isolation plays for certain players. I think this may be the only peice we are missing.

Hopefully Painter draws up some plays meant to get Vince, Ray, and Hill some good looks at the lane or baseline.

I would also like to see Stephens, Mathias and PJ take it to the rim at times.

We aren't lightening quick so it will probably take some screens to get that first step at times. But a good pump fake at the right moment could work wonders as well.

Other then that. I am pleased. Although I think we can still ratchet up the defense a notch or two.

Anybody else have any ideas?

Last night Robinson got more points from the PG position than I would have liked, so yes, ratchet up the D a bit. I like that Hill is driving more and think Davis will add to that when he gets back. I would love more from Vince because we all know he has it in him... I wouldn't be surprised to see him with a triple double here and there. Might shut up the Valentine love a bit too.

Big men dunking. I hate it when Haas gets position 2 feet away and then shoots a fade away...Just turn around and dunk it. More defensive awareness. Pitt was scoring a lot on basic give and go type plays. Like grade school basketball. Gotta clean that up. Overall though we are playing great team basketball. Love watching this team!

This team is so complete its dumb. We just beat a very good Pitt team at their zoo...something that doesn't happen easily. We did that without our defensive player of the year and team leader. We did it with KS shooting 1 of 9 and no help from the refs underneath for most of the game. This team is scary good, RayDay adds a new layer of offensive attacking by being able to drive. We can legitimately shoot 45% from three, and dump it inside and let two of the best centers in the BIG go to work. We have the most complete team that I've watch play this year. Inside game is probably tops in the nation with how Haas and AJ are playing right now, Defense is always top tier and this year is no different.

Clearly I'm fully on the hype train

Against the zone, you post AJ 10 feet from the basket and you have Haas drift behind the zone. AJ either has an easy shot, a throw down to Haas or 2 of our 3 pt shooters ready for the kick out with an open look. I think we are relying too much on Caleb at this point. Having said that I thought Caleb did an outstanding job on one of the best PF's in the country. As a matter of fact, considering the home team bias of the refs, I thought Purdue played great D all the way around.

Haha. I love this response.

Hmmmm, let's see...MORE DUNKS!!!1!1!!!
cmon man that's out of context. I want them to be more aggressive towards the rim.

Agree more rim attack. Fewer deep 3's without having had an inside touch early in the clock - look inside first instead given the percentages. More deliberate offense from Vince. And yes more dunks and cowbell - dunk, cowbell, repeat

Definitely a bit more dribble drive penetration would be nice...I thought Hill did a really nice job of that against Pitt...seemed to collapse the D a bit and open up some looks on the perimeter. Davis should help in that regard too.

Love watching this team.

I wouldn't mind seeing Johnny Hill shoot a jumper. Never know when we might need him to hit a shot.

this

I will add:

-Guys like Edwards and Stephens drawing more fouls and getting to the FT line more often. Edwards has the skills and ability to shoot 5-to-10 FT's nearly every game.
-Everyone of the guards and forwards (other than maybe Thompson and Hill) getting more steals and creating more points off of them.
-Coach Painter being willing to make quick decisions and mix defenses when it's beneficial. He hasn't needed to do that yet but when Pitt had their comeback in the late first and early second half last night, I thought it might be a good time for them to switch to a 2-3 or a 1-3-1. There are going to be games where adjusting the D helps.
-Under-the-basket inbounds and end of half/end of game plays. These have generally lacked very good results under Coaches Keady and Painter.

Even with all this mentioned, I believe one has to be happy with how the team has played so far this season. Hammons played great last night. He was dominant. Cline made timely shots. Edwards continues to be a great facilitator. Swanigan continues to be a beast on the boards. The point guards (Hill and Thompson) have rebounded well from their position(s). Rapheal Davis should be back for Saturday's game. MDC would be proud of this team up to this point.

Boiler Up

Agree with attacking the basket....
But really any non-3 point shot would do right now.
Still worry becoming so reliant on it, doesn't bode well for an off NCAA tourney game, especially the big domes.
When AJH got hot though vs Pitt, we did a good job of avoiding that and just fed him the ball.

Okay with drives to the rim for layups, pass offs, or pull ups. Don't want to ever see a floater again. Did not care for Hill's last night.
