Things are slow...

It’s this board. Lots of other chatter at the other site. Dub Jellison has already been introduced there.

Like we just lost one of our top freshmen. Lots of visitors and commits.

Browne came back because he had a good chance to start. No one separated themselves in spring camp is the nicest way you can put it. It was so bad Meredith unexpectedly stuck around because he now had a chance to play the others were so bad. And I think Browne fits the system well with his ability to run.

I'm one of the biggest Purdue Fans around, but it sure don't seem like we have a BG10 quality QB1 on this roster. Maybe next year. If CBO is worth his salt he will do something about the most important position in all of sports.

He’s done more with less talent, it’s more the system. Browne may be the lower quartile of the league but this offense is set up for the run like last year and Browne will do just fine with that.

who was the FR we lost ?

The RB that left was rated as the highest recruit in our 2025 class. Typically we never talk much about those who leave.

I was kind of disappointed when Browne left for UNC. I thought he showed some really good athleticism and made some good plays. Sure he's younger and has a lot to learn and could improve his passing skills, but I liked what I saw out of him. I'm glad he came back and do think he's the most likely starter.

Some locker room motivation - SI ranks B1G QBs heading into 2025 - Browne is on the list.

The player I said I had inside info on and visited Purdue, finally got a rating. He’s now a 3 star. And committed to cincy last week. He chose them over West Virginia and a bunch of other lesser teams like WKu, Memphis and coastal Carolina. Basically he took the first big division 1 offer he received. He’s a 280, 6’4 guard.

That’s the last scoop many of you who leave will get from me. Ironically I never knew him as a football player. I knew him as an Eagle Scout! I helped with his project. His dad was a professor at SIU !

Yeah I'm not highly optimistic QB is going to be a high point. Maybe we can have a season with enough improvement that someone better can be convinced to come or maybe Browne has more in him than shown so far. It doesn't say good things about the alternatives that Browne came back and immediately became the presumptive top option.

Does this mean you are not going to post at on3 after the merger? You have said that before… but I recall you say Brian has banned you from KH.

As a payer of on3 pay site I disagree with you on getting info. I do agree the pay site here is meh. What you get from Brian, Tom, Alan, and now Dub is very valuable and the good juicy gossip is not in the headlines. My biggest gripe is it’s addicting and I spend too much time on their boards. Painter and the team are much more open with Brian and G&B has opened the purse strings enough for him to get good recruiting and team coverage. My other gripe is Brian tends to be negative on his reporting of the basketball team and in particular calling out players which is mind boggling and the posters there drink his kool-ade. Same with football til is very good and I think brings a positive and fun coverage all things considered but is a bit handcuffed by his more senior staff.

I think this will be a good thing for us fans. The free board should be enhanced with consolidation and I think fans will start to settle in there as they see it’s more visited. And I think with Dunn the coverage will be improved on the pay board.

I was a paying member there for a bit, but really the value wasn't there for me as it seemed to always come out on other sites in a day or so as it were. His battle with April was entertaining and worth the dollar... :D

But if wol won't be there thats enough value right there :D

What are the other three sites?

What are the other three sites?
a couple of facebook groups, hammer and rails, 24/7, SI something , a couple of others. peegs iu site.

and no i will not be paying to be part of any forum.

Brian once banned me for my critical comments about hazell and my critical comments about the players he recriuted. i questioned why Purdue was wasting their time recruiting players no big 10 team was interested in recruiting. I said look at their offers. are these the type of players that are going to help us win games? Brian though I was being too harsh , and i shouldn't be so negative. I provided links to prove many other professional recruiting sites were just as negative about these poor young souls, and I wasn't saying anything anybody else hadn't said about them publicly on their recruiting sites.

and then the entire world saw how bad of a coach Hazell was and how bad all of those recruits were. and Brian realized while my posts may have been harsh and critical of these poor young souls, they were deadly accurate. so he let me post again.

to be honest. I'm not sure it was brian who banned me. I never received notification from Brian or the reason i was banned. I suspect it may have been somebody else who just didn't like me or my posts. i have to believe old gold and black or iron whatever at that time had more than one moderator. maybe it was somebody else who banned me and brian looked at my posts and gave me my rights back. Everything I said about Hazell and the quality of his recruits was truthful and accurate. I just said them the day he was hired while a lot of you didn't want to hear the truth, because you were homers and expecting great things from hazell. but the truth remains, if you want to beat big ten teams, you need to win the off season and actually recruit big 10 caliber talent. recruiting 2 star 220 pound linemen and hoping they will gain 80-100 pounds in a year is not a plan for success. BIG 10 teams should not be wasting their time recruiting 1-2 star athletes. and we shouldn't have 2-3 kickers on scholarship when most schools have kickers as walkons.

the thing is. I don't know a whole lot. But if I can see it. It's obvious, and I can't understand why others were so blind.

there was a 360 degree difference between Brohm and Hazell. You could see it the first week Brohm was in his office.

walters was ok. but he was in over his head, and he brought in some experienced assistants, but nobody was ever on the same page.

odoms seems ok. he was a .500 coach in the SEC, and he likes to recruit players that other SEC schools recruit. and he's the first coach in a long time that has made beefing up the offensive and defensive line a priority. with a few breaks, we could become like iowa and Wisconsin. i don't have unrealistic expectations. but if a coach can go .500 in the SEC, he should be able to do the same in the BIG 10. maybe the Pin Stripe Bowl is our ceiling. it's at least a bowl game.

if you go to the new site and pay forum, you'll probably miss me and talk about me. that's ok.

an update on my son. He went to his third consecutive NCAA Outdoor championship as a coach in 5 years. His jumper gained All American honors. he's already coached 1 NCAA High jump Champion, and 1 Olympic high jump trials champ. he's done ok in 5 years. he doesn't need your support or your backing. Athletes and colleges know who he is and what he can do. sorry SI Boiler, you watched him grow up at Carterville and SIU. Did you ever say a good word about my son ? Not to me. your loss.

so I guess this is good bye to a lot of you. I was never an athlete. I'm just a geek. but my entire purpose in posting was to prove that even geeks can be as smart as many of the people who claim to know it all and were 20 sport athletes. I don't party, drink or swear or bully others. I'm just a Boy scout and teacher and air Force Officer.

I wish you well.

What struck me as odd when Hazell was hired was the comments Burke (RIP) made at the beginning of the coaching search. He said something along the lines of he was looking for a coach who had passing offense strategies or something to that effect. Then Hazell was hired and he was a running offense coach. Purdue usually has been best as a passing offense, but that hire went the opposite direction and the team wasn't built for it. The contract Hazell got was significantly higher than Hope's too. Hazell did have some good recruits and that became more evident with Brohm,

You are right about that time on that forum. Any critical questions or comments about Hazell were frowned upon, but that is generally true with an new higher.

what are the other free Purdue fan forum sites as I only ever really participated in the Old Gold and Black turned Rivals forum...

The free boards at On3 haven't had a post on either the basketball or football board since late April. Is this seriously where we should be headed?
I think I'll just go back to not doing Internet posting. I'm sure plenty will cheer that lol but yeah I don't have a burning desire to post at on3. Twitter is certainly entertaining enough and probably a greater reach anyways.

There is a reddit sub too.

Personally I think that is the problem... there are way too many fragmented sites and not really one "main" one. Yeah I suppose one3 could be about as close as one as we have, but our fan base isn't the largest so having so many different places sorta hurts things.

I've never been one to pay (at least not for very long) for access to a site as the value has just never been there for me. When I did, anything posted that was "premium" content came to the free sites at worst a day or two later. Twitter is pretty much the same day .. so any "insider" info pretty much doesn't exist anymore.

That's just me, your results will vary.

There was one called iron something. It has probably changed names. There are many Facebook groups. They are not called forums but they are a place for civil discussion and opinions and isn’t that what the definition of a forum is should be? The facebook groups have out scooped the forums here recently about offers being made. On the downside , if you belittle and harass people in the Facebook groups you will be banned. Facebook doesn’t care who you claim to be or who your friends are.
