There is dumb, then there is what Miami did tonight.

There is the immediate win and also recruiting for the future. Inflating statistics may help for the latter especially if there is no L. People when looking at statistics don't know how they were derived, they're just numbers.

So what did they do, man?
They had 3rd and 10 with under 40 seconds left and GaTech had no timeouts, so all they had to do was victory formation.

They did not do victory formation. They handed off up the middle and the RB fumbled while trying to make extra yards.

Georgia Tech completed two long passes, one for the game winning TD with 2 seconds left.

Didn't NFL coach, (Giants maybe?) get fired the day after doing something like this?

The play that made Herm Edwards famous......Miracle at the Meadowlands.

Giants coach, John McVay, wasn't fired after this, but the Giants let him go after the season (not extending his expiring contract). Ironically, he went on to have a big hand as an executive in turning around a fledging franchise in San Francisco.

moronic decision for sure, but their D let them down at the end too.

I think Purdue had a similar situation with THE FUMBLE. Kyle Orton vs. WISC.

Play the game long enough, every team has a situation that comes to mind that you wish you good take back or do over. If you are IU football, it is with a bit more frequency than others. :-O

Somewhat, but not quite. Orton was going for the first down that would have iced the game. If he doesn't get it, Purdue has to punt there.

Miami literally took the last snap with less than 40 seconds left and Georgia tech out of timeouts. A knee ends it without question.
