The Ringer's Mark Titus on Caleb Swanigan

That was a good read. Titus is a good writer and pretty funny a lot of times. By far my favorite OSU basketball player of all time... and they have truthfully had some good ones.

This should be required reading for all Purdue players. The difference between Swanigan and 99% of other players is that he plays every play to win. He doesn't take any plays off and he doesn't expect a teammate to bail him out.
Could you imagine if Hummel and Biggie were on the same team? The will to win wouldn't be matched by an opposing team. Those two would refuse to lose.

I agree with him being the best Purdue player in 20 years. (that was not bait to start an argument) I hope Painter can use him as an example to land future big name recruits.

Hammons was one of my favorite players of all time but he was best lethargic is one of several adjectives I'd use to describe him.

Overall a good read and a very boasting article about the program. I love it.

Being an Indiana fan, I was totally scared of Swanigan last year...It is HIS team this year, and throw in an creative scoring guard like Edwards just makes him even better. I do enjoy reading Titus articles, and completely agree that Hammons was very lethargic at times and you didn't know which AJ you would get on a given night. I am sure Hummel and Moore might argue about being the best Purdue player in 20 years though. I have watched Purdue play 6-8 games this year and am very impressed. You now have that dynamic guard that can shoot and get to the rim, and your inside game opens up good looks from three for many different shooters. Having one of the best, if not the best big man in College Basketball certainly helps. Purdue can certainly go far in the tourney this year, as I think only very long athletic teams can hurt you. Louisville, Baylor, WV, Florida State, and Kentucky would be some teams I wouldn't want to see in your bracket.

It's Purdue. We will win the BiG, only get a 4 seed, and have a bracket set up to play the 13 seed, then Florida State, Baylor, Louisville, WV, and Kentucky. It's what we do:D.
I agree about our Achilles' heel being long athletic teams. If Haas has learned his lesson about trying to be a finesse center and instead plays like he did against Wisky, we may be able to better deal with those teams. Fingers crossed.

I like what he said here:
But here’s the cool part about being a college basketball fan: I don’t have to give a shit about what Swanigan may or may not do in the NBA. I get to enjoy him for what he is now, which is the best player in the Big Ten, the best big man in college basketball

That isn't the comparison he made.
That's debatable. He said Swanigan is "the best player to wear the Purdue uniform in more than 20 years". When making player comparisons I feel it is only fair to judge players at the same stage of development.
With that said, he might be already ahead of those other guys as seniors when it comes to offense and rebounding. Turnovers is the main thing holding him back.
My takeaway is this comment is an endorsement of Biggie and not a slight to others. I'm just glad we're able to have a debate like this! I will admit at the start of this season I was high on him but did not see this coming.
