The great thing about being older...

You're absolutely right.

I have kind of accepted our role as the "Cubs of the Big Ten" which makes it easier to handle disappointments. :D

When we lost to Wisconsin in the 2000 Elite Eight, I think I was down for several days. Truthfully, I still hate Wisconsin for it, but I don't take the games quite as seriously as I did when I was younger. In my 20s, Purdue basketball was almost like a religion for me.
How about the Chargers of the NFL? My favorite teams are Purdue, Sox, Chargers…been some brutal losses lol. Thankfully the Bulls and Hawks got it done many times, that helped.

This one was a quick 1 minute taping, she started when Purdue had the ball and Williams scored, I got up did a little foot shuffle and screamed come on D, as I count down the clock Harper hits that 40 footer, I lost it for about 15 seconds, it was funny, my buddies loved it. I was over it quickly, that Virginia game took a day or so, that was brutal!
Yeah I was at the UT and UVA games… when taken together, was a little easier for me to get over, as us beating UT seemed like just as much of a miracle as UVA beating us was…if that makes sense.

We had sat next to UT fans 48 hours earlier who were just as much in disbelief as we were after the UVA game.

Several of us got together and hung Alex Agase in effigy in front of the Krannert Builiding with a sign hanging from it's feet saying "0 and 4 we will take no more!". It made the cover of the Exponent. I'm 69 now and would do it again if I could still throw the rope over the streetlamp.:) The "Agase of defeat" was a tough experience to endure. Fortunately I haven't reached the "fill my diaper" phase. My wife says I'm full of shit, so I guess the diaper is next!

I think many of us when younger responded to the simular stimuli in some way, but differently when older. I think it is the perspective that comes over time. That perspective may come about by being more aware of some variables in play as well as prioritizing the variables due to tougher things in life. We realize at the end of the day...it is a game that others perform and has no bearing on who we are.

I agree w/ your first sentence, the other day my wife came out of the shower and she said" honey, I shaved everything down below you know what means? I said yes a clogged drain

It happened for me around 45, I'm 58 now. I use a metaphor about life being an "arc". When you near the top of the arc and you can see the end since your at the top looking down........you care about many things a lot less.

Going to be 62 in March. Going in for my 2nd hip replacement in early May timeframe. I will then have a matching set. Stuff breaks man. No fun getting older, but I guess it beats…., ah, not so sure about that anymore.

I changed how I viewed a prostate exam, a female nurse helping my Doc, a hell of a lot of other aspects of life, at about 55. I cared no more. I had no "pride" anymore. I was who I am ... take me or leave me, but I care NOT!

Isn’t it strange when someone passes away they say they are in a better place. If that’s true, why is everyone trying to live so long? :D

I have discussed this many times! Why are people so sad when someone moves on to a supposd better place?

I had a heart cath in 2008 and was on the stainless table nude for 45 minutes. I was in Florida and previously had some sun. While on the table a couple of nurses came in and told me how nice a tan I had. Surprised me a bit …

Anterior cut or posterior?

So please finish the story. How was their tans? ;)
I never got to find out, ;) Everything was good. Doc said he would do anything to have my heart and arteries. to this day, I'm convinced it was chest muscle, because I was in the gym 3 to 5 days a week for 1 to 2 hours lifting. I never really got to see them, because they were on my left and a bit behind my head and not sure I wanted eye to eye at that time. ;) Doc woke me up to see the widow makers flash on the monitor when he said what he did. I asked the doc if he would do me a favor. He said what? I said go out and tell my sister I'm about to have open heart surgery. He said I can't do that...she is already a nervous wreck. So with the collagen plug I couldn't get in the ocean and had to try to keep water off for a couple of weeks.

That was then...today I'm weak and need to get in the gym for some more moderate lifting, but unsure how much for my legs since the hip replacement. Last thing I want to do is wear it out quicker by doing such. I think the doc told me back then that what I could do 10 reps was fine, but it sure seems to me that number would be a bit of impact and so I need to touch base with the doc on that. ;)

I had a heart cath two months ago and they went in through my wrist. They stopped me from taking my gown off ... dammit. I was all set to hear "Nice tan..." All was well for me. They were trying tofigure my shortness of breath out, but isn't my heart.

Went through my groin. Guy shaved me and was a bit uncomfortable with that. Thought the nurse would be a female, but figured the doctor didn't want to be saying, "down boy...down boy!" ;)

Anterior. Done at Meth Sports Med, now Forte. Dr. Maratt
quicker healing with that cut. I find a bit more back stiffness after the surgery. I had a Dr Murphy. He was an IU guy whose dad was a ME and mom a teacher from Purdue. He obviously went for the money! Good luck!!
