The football coaching staff

This is the best coaching staff at Purdue since Joe Tillers first staff.

I would have liked to see a bigger name for DC that could have brought some flips over with them. But the whole staff has a proven track record and I expect the Purdue coaching staff to be one of the better staffs in the Big Ten. Once the wins start happening, better recruits will fall in line. Academics will occasionally be a hinderance, but CJB should maximize what he has.

The DC is highly respected and a former HC...outside of the guys at major programs right now, I'm not sure Brohm could have done better...if he could have, I'm sure he would have reeled him in. I think Diacco was probably the only viable solution I think could be better.

Tim DeRuyter was available but he recently got the new DC job at Cal.

Academics can also be a plus. A big reason Elijah Sindelar chose Purdue is that he wanted to study electrical engineering.

I think it is why we landed Mackey as well. His mother appeared to be all in for Purdue and he listened. But it caused us to miss on Potts, Williams, Mcdougle (I am guessing, it really is the only thing that makes sense), and Nixon (or was it Mixon? Got them both confused easily. It is a give and take, but there are always a lot of athletes out there that could help the program, but we have no shot simply due to acedmic standards and an unwillingness to create fake majors with fake classes.

Look at Nick Holt's background at USC (under Pete Carroll) and Washington. He's had strong success in the past.

Since DeRuyter had some choice in his career he's been back home out west. I think it would have been a tough sell to get him to move to the midwest.
