Purdue may have more depth, but Illinois has more shooters and guys who can create their own shot. Hopefully some of these guys on ILL cool down a bit.

Years of Painter's inability to recruit high level guards is on show.

Well, now that the game is over, it really didn't turn out that way. I was telling a friend at half time that there was a reason that the Illini had lost so many games. Purdue made a basket right away and then followed that with a defensive stop. They played the second half with a higher pace than the first half and were clean without pivotal turn overs till the end. The Illini missed a bunch of shots and Purdue rebounded so their shooters were inconsistent leading to Purdue's success.

.........and it was one of CMP's "low level" guards that won the game today.

Now, don't you guys feel silly? That is why you don't post too early, SMH

Illinois may have more shooters, but Purdue held them to 33% from the field and 22% from three.

Purdue went out and got motion basketball players in the 2014 class. They may not have been all that highly rated or capable of breaking down the D single-handedly, but they fit what Painter is trying to do.

Now if we could just land one guy who's willing to play in a motion offense but has the ability to create his own shot when needed...like an E'twaun Moore

My prediction is Edwards will be that guy.
